Comedian Kim Jun-ho, Kim Dae-hee, and Kim Ji-min, along with the representative of JDB Entertainment, Mr. A, have become embroiled in controversy over an affair allegation, while the subsidiary EFG Music has declared a series of artist contract cancellations, causing the ripple effect to expand.
On the 17th, a media outlet reported allegations of an inappropriate relationship between Mr. A, the representative of JDB Entertainment, and Ms. B, a member of the affiliated girl group. Claims were raised that the two had engaged in couple-like behavior, such as meeting alone after schedules or hugging and holding hands late at night in the streets.
In response, JDB stated, “We are closely verifying the facts,” and added, “The party involved has expressed their intention to resign. We apologize for any concern caused,” but the controversy is not easily subsiding.
In particular, this scandal is having a devastating impact on its subsidiary EFG Music. EFG Music began its new journey by signing girl group IHOTEU as its first artist in October of last year but announced the termination of their exclusive contract on the 13th, just seven months later. Following the notice of member Mina's activities ending, other members' contract cancellations were also confirmed.
Subsequently, EFG Music continued to clean up with other affiliated artists. On the 16th, it announced the termination of Live Idol Nana's contract, and on the 17th, the dissolution of the affiliated band HIJK was revealed in succession. In particular, the decision to abruptly dissolve HIJK, which had debuted less than a month prior, hinted at significant internal turmoil.
EFG Music explained, “The current representative is unable to directly participate in managing the situation,” adding, “The internal personnel are in charge of organizing operations and are gradually carrying out necessary responses, and after comprehensive consideration of the situation, we have decided to temporarily suspend all activities.” It further stated, “The company’s continuation and the direction of organizational operation will be decided after legal counsel and internal discussions.”
Thus, the affair allegation against the representative of JDB has not only resulted in a simple image blow but has also significantly affected its subsidiary artists, leading to a cascade of contract cancellations.
The controversy over the representative’s private life has struck a severe blow to the overall management of the subsidiary, leaving both affiliated entertainers and fans in confusion. Attention is focused on what stance the management will express.
