Actor Jeong Ga-eun drew attention by revealing her challenge as a taxi driver through her YouTube channel.
On the 16th, Jeong Ga-eun posted a video on her YouTube channel documenting her preparation and interview process for a part-time taxi driver position. Balancing parenting and broadcasting activities, she decided to take on the taxi driving job whenever she found time.
However, it was reported that she was rejected by most taxi companies either for not hiring female drivers or because part-time work was not possible. Ultimately, Jeong Ga-eun found a company that allows 'the only nationwide part-time hiring' after much difficulty and went for an interview.
She introduced her appearance at the interview, saying, 'Getting hired just because I'm interviewing doesn't mean anything; I came dressed neatly for the interview. I wore comfortable and cool pants and workout shoes.' A company official said to Jeong Ga-eun, 'We haven't hired any women in the past,' adding, 'No women have come to interview, and it’s our company policy not to hire women. You will be the first female employee.'
The company operates a structure where drivers pay the entire amount displayed on the meter to the company without any deposit fee and receive a set salary. A company official explained that incentives are also possible based on performance.
Jeong Ga-eun signed up for commercial driver insurance and began preparing for her activities, but could not drive the vehicle right away. At the end of the video, Jeong Ga-eun sparked curiosity about the situation by asking, 'Why?'
Recently, she confessed on YouTube, 'I firmly thought there would be no 'remarriage' in my life, but these days I’m wondering if I should,' adding, 'After the movie, there’s been no work. I'm looking at the money the company deposits, and I feel helpless.'
While revealing her preparations to become a taxi driver, opinions arose that 'Jeong Ga-eun is transitioning to a full-time job,' but she clarified, 'I'm not transitioning to a full-time job as a taxi driver. The job of being a celebrity is unstable, so I’m preparing a second plan for my future.'
Meanwhile, Jeong Ga-eun married her husband in 2016, who is the same age, and had a daughter, but they divorced after a year. Her ex-husband was sued for misappropriating 13.2 billion won in investment funds using a bank account under Jeong Ga-eun's name until 2018 and then fleeing.
