Actress Hwang Jung-eum has wrapped up her divorce lawsuit with her ex-husband Lee Yong-don with the court's mediation decision, putting an end to a 10-year marriage. Hwang Jung-eum's agency, Y1 Entertainment, announced on the 26th of last month that "as of May 26, 2025, the divorce lawsuit of Ms. Hwang Jung-eum has been amicably concluded with the confirmation of the family court's mediation decision, thereby officially establishing the divorce."
Earlier, reports surfaced that high-value properties owned by Hwang Jung-eum, including a building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam District, and a detached house in Itaewon-dong, were temporarily seized during the divorce process, causing a stir. In response, the agency explained, "This was merely a mutual asset preservation measure for the liquidation of the couple's common property," adding that "now that the divorce mediation has been confirmed, the temporary seizures will all be lifted."
Having officially wrapped up the divorce issue, Hwang Jung-eum also resolved another significant legal issue concerning the allegations of embezzlement amounting to 4.3 billion won. She was taken to trial for evidence suggesting she used funds from the family corporation, Hunminjeongeum Entertainment, in cryptocurrencies; it has been reported that she recently disposed of private assets and fully repaid the amount over two occasions on May 30 and June 5.
The agency stated, "Ms. Hwang Jung-eum has reorganized her assets to assume legal and moral responsibility, thereby completely resolving the financial relationship with Hunminjeongeum Entertainment," adding, "She reflects on the shortcomings that arose from a lack of tax and accounting knowledge and will engage in future activities with greater caution."
Hwang Jung-eum is known to be an asset holder with a detached house in Itaewon valued at 4.65 billion won and a Gangnam building worth 6.2 billion won, and this full repayment lends credence to the previously raised speculation of 'assets worth over 10 billion won.'
