'The omniscient reader's viewpoint' Ahn Hyo-seop revealed the reason he chose the work.
On the morning of the 17th, a production briefing for the movie 'The omniscient reader's viewpoint' was held at Lotte Cinema in the Konkuk University area of Seoul. Attendees included lead actors Ahn Hyo-seop, Lee Min-ho, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Nana, and director Kim Byung-woo.
'The omniscient reader's viewpoint' (directed by Kim Byung-woo, provided by Lotte Entertainment and Smilegate, distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by Realize Pictures Co., Ltd., co-produced by MYM Entertainment, Smilegate Realize, and The Present Company) is a fantasy action work where the world of a novel becomes reality on the day the novel, serialized for over 10 years, is completed. The unique reader, Kim Dok-ja (played by Ahn Hyo-seop), along with the protagonist Yoo Jung-hyuk (played by Lee Min-ho) and his companions, struggles to survive in a devastated world. This large-scale production, with a budget of approximately 30 billion won, has been completed, following the popular web novel and webtoon. Director Kim Byung-woo, known for works like 'The Terror Live' (2013) and 'PMC: The Bunker' (2018), is releasing his next work after seven years.
Ahn Hyo-seop plays Kim Dok-ja, who is the only one who knows the ending of the novel serialized for over 10 years. He is an ordinary contract employee at a gaming company and the only reader of the novel 'Three Ways to Survive in a Devastated World.' He will portray the gradual transformation of Kim Dok-ja, from an ordinary person to someone becoming stronger as the world of the novel turns into reality, and he will make his cinematic debut after 10 years.
Ahn Hyo-seop noted, "Kim Dok-ja is an extremely ordinary character that can be seen around us. For 10 years, he finds solace by comparing the serialized novel to his own life. However, he is someone who is not satisfied with the ending of the novel, where Yoo Jung-hyuk survives alone." He introduced his character, saying, "As the world of the novel becomes real, he meets companions and struggles to change the ruined world."
Regarding the reason for choosing the work, he said, "When I first saw the script, I was very curious about how 'The omniscient reader's viewpoint' would be realized." He added that it was a film of a scale not yet seen in Korea.
He mentioned, "What intrigued me the most was the philosophy that the film possesses. I liked that it portrays a character not living alone, but someone who lives together with others."
Meanwhile, 'The omniscient reader's viewpoint' is scheduled to be released on July 23.
