In 'Hunter with a Scalpel', Park Joo-hyun transforms into the daughter of a serial killer with a dark past.

On the morning of 12th, at the Ramada Sindorim Hotel in Guro-gu, Seoul, a press conference for the STUDIO X+U drama 'Hunter with a Scalpel' took place.

'Hunter with a Scalpel' is a crime thriller about Se-hyun, a forensic surgeon who, discovering her father, a serial killer known as 'Tailor', whom she thought had died 20 years ago, becomes his prey to find him before the police do.

Director Lee Jeong-hoon explained about 'Hunter with a Scalpel', saying, "It is an intense psychological thriller that unfolds within the father-daughter relationship. There are uncomfortable truths within the relationship that I wanted to show, constantly testing daughter Se-hyun in an intense and harsh manner."

In the drama, Park Joo-hyun plays the role of Seo Se-hyun, a genius forensic surgeon who chases her serial killer father to hide a past she wants to erase.

When asked about the effort put into portraying the sociopathic character, he said, "Se-hyun is not expressed in a one-dimensional way in her emotions and is not honest about her expressions, which is very different from me. I tried to express myself interestingly while trying to hide my emotions and expressions from others."

Park Yong-woo, who plays Yun Jo-kyun, a psychopathic serial killer and a human anatomy enthusiast and Se-sehyun's father, when asked about his reason for participating, said, "I felt that the density and completeness of the script were good.

Describing his character, he said, "Currently, I work as the owner of Yongcheon Laundry. I am also the cause of the dark past created for Se-hyun."

Park Yong-woo said, "I wanted to express ordinary feelings as much as possible. After all, the role requires expressing dramatic emotions, especially dark feelings, and I personally find that the scariest people are those who express their feelings comfortably and habitually without a sense of guilt. I thought a lot about this."

Kang Hoon plays the role of Jeong Jeong-hyeon, the head of the violent crimes unit who has just been assigned to Yongcheon Police Station.

He continued, "Jeong Jeong-hyun believes that human nature is fundamentally good. He teams up with Seo Se-hyun, and as they progress through the case, the puzzle begins to point towards Se-hyun, which leaves him flustered."

'Hunter with a Scalpel' is based on the novel of the same name by writer Choi I-do.

Regarding the choice to adopt a 30-minute mid-form, he said, "In the situation of a quick unfolding of the drama, I think the 30-minute mid-form was the optimal format to explain 'Hunter with a Scalpel'.

'Hunter with a Scalpel' is gaining international attention as it debuted at the Hong Kong FilMart, Asia-Pacific's largest entertainment content market, prior to its domestic release and was officially invited to the Cannes Series Rendezvous section.

When asked about the unique points of 'Hunter with a Scalpel', Park Joo-hyun confidently responded, "It is important for genre pieces to convey so that the viewer does not feel repulsed.

Park Yong-woo mentioned, "Both the script and the released media, although I haven't watched much, seem to increase curiosity and focus as the narrative progresses. That was enjoyable," and Kang Hoon added, "The rapid progression due to the mid-form is a distinguishing feature. It was my first experience with mid-form, but watching the edited video, I found it progressed quickly, not simply passing by but rather incorporating considerable elements, which created a fun and tense experience."

Lastly, when asked about the key observational points, director Lee Jeong-hoon stated, "While Se-hyun's character likely started with fear towards her father in the past, I believe the only person she had beside her as a child must have been this person, leading to a strong desire to be loved.

Park Joo-hyun said, "We have a solid script. We have worked hard to make it dense without any gaps, so I hope you enjoy it."

'Hunter with a Scalpel' will be premiering today (16th) on U+tv, U+mobiletv, and Disney+.
