Member Jung Kook of the group BTS apologized for wearing a hat with inappropriate wording at fellow member J-Hope's solo concert held at Goyang Sports Complex Stadium on the 13th. The hat was immediately discarded.

On the 14th, Jung Kook said on the fan platform Weverse, “I sincerely apologize for disappointing and causing discomfort to many with the words on the hat I wore during rehearsal.”

Previously, Jung Kook made a surprise appearance at J-Hope's solo world tour encore performance the day before, performing the hit song 'Seven.' However, it came to light that the black hat Jung Kook wore during rehearsal before the performance had the phrase 'MAKE TOKYO GREAT AGAIN' written on it, which sparked controversy online.

The hat worn by Jungkook is sold out.

This phrase is borrowed from U.S. President Donald Trump's slogan 'MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.' It is said to be a slogan used by Yuriko Koike, the governor of Tokyo, who has right-wing tendencies. Some internet users claimed that this phrase carries connotations that glorify Japanese imperial rule and colonial domination.

Jung Kook stated, “I take seriously that I caused disappointment and hurt due to my inadequacy in wearing something without fully understanding its historical and political implications,” and added, “I just apologize. There is no room for excuses for any reason. I was insufficient and careless.”

He continued, “From now on, I will think and act more deeply about everything,” and said, “I humbly accept all critiques and criticisms regarding my mistake. The hat was disposed of immediately. I once again express my apologies.”

The company that produced the hat worn by Jungkook, which became controversial, posts a clarification on Instagram.

The hat worn by Jung Kook is a product of the Japanese fashion brand 'BAYSIX.' It is priced at 13,200 yen (approximately 125,300 won) on the official website. BAYSIX announced the hat sold out on Instagram along with a photo of Jung Kook wearing it.

However, BAYSIX stated, “We apologize to those who felt discomfort,” adding, “The design of the hat was not intended to convey any political stance, but rather was our wish for the Tokyo fashion industry to thrive.”
