Lee Soon-sil shared an episode with her mother-in-law.
On the 14th, the MBN entertainment program 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi (abbreviated as Dongchimi)' discussed the topic 'Couples Who Crossed the Line.'
Lee Soon-sil said, "My husband's family was poor. It was in the countryside. After getting married, I completely replaced the home appliances." Then she added, "'She is the youngest daughter of our family,' but suddenly her mother started cursing. It's a serious insult in North Korea. Moreover, my big sister-in-law added pressure, and my mother said, 'How could she be so rude?' while my brother-in-law was listening."
She continued, "Even if it's comfortable, that's not acceptable. I was driving with my mother-in-law, and she was cursing again. I said that phrase was the most unpleasant to hear. But then she said it again. It was a dialect from Jeolla Province. Until I understood it, I really disliked it." This episode of misunderstanding her mother-in-law's words was shared, and while listening, Kim Hyun-sook nodded, saying, "This is a cultural difference."
Lee Soon-sil's husband explained, "When I first visited, she also referred to me as the youngest daughter. It has been five years since my father passed away, and he suffered from dementia for seven years. My father called Soon-sil, asking, 'When are you coming?' My parents treated my wife like their own daughter. Whenever they called, my wife would rush over. It seems they think of her even closer than their daughter."
