Actor Namgoong-min returned to SBS after three years with 'Our Movie' and spoke out about the poor viewership ratings.
Namgoong-min shared a screenshot of an article about the poor ratings of the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Our Movie' (directed by Lee Jung-heum/written by Han Ga-eun, Kang Kyung-min/produced by Studio S, Beyond J) on the 15th.
The photo that Namgoong-min shared included an article titled "Viewership ratings dropped to a third... Namgoong-min suffers humiliation as 'the lowest on terrestrial television', please don’t die," which reported that 'Our Movie' experienced a drop of about two-thirds in viewership compared to the last episode's ratings of 11% for the previous work 'The Haunted Palace'.
On that day, Namgoong-min remarked on the poor viewership ratings, saying, "Reporter, contrary to your provocative title, it seems you watched our drama, thank you very much," and added, "Despite the current low ratings, I am very confident."
He then emphasized, "So please pay attention to us just like this until the 5th episode. And if there is still no clear rebound at that time, please give harsher criticism for the humiliation of being in last place. It will be my responsibility."
Earlier, on the 13th, the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Our Movie' premiered with a nationwide rating of 4.2%, marking a good start, but fell to 3.0% in the second episode.
However, Namgoong-min reaffirmed his determination for improved viewership while expressing confidence in 'Our Movie'. When asked about the ratings at the production presentation for 'Our Movie' held on the 10th, he said, "In any case, I always have expectations. And since we worked hard, I always have confidence. Whether the results will align with that confidence is uncertain, and I will always accept it humbly," adding, "It's not a drama that can be judged by the first episode; it would be good to watch until the 4th episode."
Meanwhile, SBS's 'Our Movie' depicts the story of a film director 'Je-ha' who has no tomorrow and an actor 'Da-eum' whose today is the last, focused on a love story that cannot be postponed until tomorrow, airing every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m.
