Namgoong-min is slowly wavering toward terminally ill actress Jeon Yeo-bin.
In the second episode of SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Our Movie' (directed by Lee Jeong-heum, written by Han Ga-eun and Kang Kyung-min), which aired on the 14th, Lee Je-hah (played by Namgoong-min) begins to resonate with the earnest will of Lee Da-eum (played by Jeon Yeo-bin), who wants to fulfill her dream of being an actress, creating anticipation for the 'white love' remake that will be reborn with new emotions. Consequently, the second episode recorded a peak viewership rating of 4.7% (based on Nielsen Korea).
Lee Da-eum, who inherited her mother's illness after she passed away, has long dreamed of being an actress, a profession that allows her to briefly become someone else as she faces the end of life. Therefore, she burned with determination to become the protagonist of the 'white love' remake that Lee Je-hah will create, eager to realize her dream.
During the audition, Lee Da-eum left a strong impression on Lee Je-hah, the producers, including Bae Seung-won (played by Seo Hyun-woo), with her unique interpretation of the character. Lee Je-hah was captivated by Lee Da-eum's performance, but if this terminally ill woman were to suddenly pass away while filming, the aftermath would be tremendous. Since this is a long-awaited project five years in the making and involves many people, he tried to be cautious, yet Lee Da-eum's presence was already becoming engraved in his heart.
While working on the screenplay, Lee Je-hah, who was captivated by Lee Da-eum's words, asked her, 'How long do you think you can live?' In response, Lee Da-eum boldly fired back with the question, 'How long are you supposed to live?' shaking his heart.
Particularly, while contemplating the emotional line of the protagonist in 'white love,' Lee Je-hah gained new inspiration from Lee Da-eum's statement about wanting to leave memories for her loved ones after she's gone. Additionally, more than 100 video performances of monologues hinted at Lee Da-eum's passion and earnestness as she quietly advances toward her dream of being an actress. This led him to be convinced that he wanted to experience 'white love' together with Lee Da-eum as an actress, rather than seeking her only for terminal consultation.
Receiving a message that she passed the first audition, Lee Da-eum, filled with emotion, entered the second audition with a racing heart after making full preparations. Instead of focusing on the character analysis Lee Da-eum had brought, Lee Je-hah focused on her condition as a terminal patient to accurately grasp reality, and Lee Da-eum's reckless determination to do anything even in pain re-opened his heart. He then set a condition, saying, 'There’s a condition: Don’t die,' suggesting that a green light would be on for Lee Da-eum's challenge for the lead role.
Thus, Lee Je-hah and Lee Da-eum are rewriting a classic that has garnered everyone's love, hinting at a transformation in their relationship from director and terminal consultant to director and actress. Curiosity grows about what emotions 'white love' created by the two, painting each other's lives, will embody.
