The show "Brave Detectives 4" unveiled the heinous crimes committed by those blinded by money.

On the 13th, during the 38th episode of T-Cast E-channel's "Brave Detectives 4" (directed by Lee Ji-sun), Detective Chief Yoon Gil-jung from Okcheon Police Station, Lieutenant Shim Gap-yong from the Scientific Investigation Division of Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Police Agency, former Commissioner Yoon Wae-chul from the Scientific Investigation Team (KCSI), and Detective Kim Jin-soo made grants and presented a case diary of investigations they personally resolved.

The first case was an shocking crime where a man named Gang Young-min, currently sentenced to death, murdered his mistress after orchestrating a sham marriage with an acquaintance to claim a large insurance payout. The case began with a urgent report from two middle-aged men fishing, who found a man slumped over in a vehicle. The body had already been moved, and the victim was a 34-year-old male who had been married for less than a month.

The victim's wife was a 23-year-old woman who had only registered their marriage without holding a wedding ceremony, and they had been living together for less than 20 days. Most notably, the wife displayed no signs of mourning over her husband's death, raising suspicions. The victim had been close with the owner of the printing house where he previously worked, and it was the employee who had introduced him to his now-wife.

During the investigation, it was confirmed that six insurance policies were taken out in the victim's name. The investigation team captured evidence showing that the wife had contacted the owner of the printing house from a payphone near the victim's home. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the wife was Gang Young-min's mistress. She had introduced the victim through an employee. Soon after, the mistress was found dead in a motel, with evidence suggesting the scene was staged as a suicide. In the past, Gang Young-min had also orchestrated an act of arson at his printing house to claim insurance payouts and instructed his accomplices to deliberately cause a traffic accident involving his wife and young child.

The investigation team tracked and persuaded another woman in her 20s who had been staying with Gang Young-min through phone taps at his family's home, successfully obtaining the key to his hideout and capturing him. Gang Young-min admitted to most of his crimes but claimed that the mistress had "begged him to kill her." The motive for his crimes stemmed from debts incurred due to gambling. Gang Young-min was sentenced to death, and a total of seven accomplices, including the deceased mistress, received prison sentences ranging from 4 to 10 years.

The second case introduced by KCSI involved a horrific murder of a 40-year-old female owner at a small bar, which began with a report from her sister stating, "She is dead." The victim was found naked on a sofa in a small room of the bar. The perpetrator used the victim's underwear strap to bind her neck and hair, employing cruel and bizarre methods. The investigation team secured a metal statue, a knife, scissors, and other tools used in the crime from the scene. The victim's clothing was cut vertically, and her valuables, such as money, wallet, and cellphone, were also missing.

The investigation team conducted six searches of the scene, collecting 48 DNA samples and 43 fingerprints, and obtained a crucial fingerprint from a cup of water placed next to a disconnected phone on the counter. A forensic analysis revealed that the DNA detected under the victim's fingernails matched DNA extracted from several cigarette butts collected from the scene. There were also signs that the victim had scratched the perpetrator while resisting. The investigation team identified a male suspect in his mid-30s through the fingerprint from the cup, and also confirmed scratches on his right hand. Most decisively, the DNA from the suspect's cigarette butts secured at an internet cafe matched the DNA from the evidence collected at the scene.

The suspect, who had denied the charges, confessed to the crime in light of clear evidence. He claimed he killed the victim during an argument over a 10,000 won loan that she had not paid back, which shocked investigators. Particularly during this process, he made absurd excuses for his actions or revealed intentions to mock the victim. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
