Eun Ji-won announces remarriage after 13 years of divorce... internet users express support with comments such as 'expected move.'
Former Sechs Kies member and broadcaster Eun Ji-won has announced his remarriage after 13 years of divorce, signaling a new beginning in his life. Despite the sudden announcement, public reaction has largely been that they expected it. Considering Eun Ji-won has shared his sincere thoughts about remarriage through various broadcasts, this move already seemed somewhat predictable.
Eun Ji-won's agency, YG Entertainment, stated on the 12th to OSEN that "Eun Ji-won recently took wedding photos and plans to hold a private wedding ceremony by the end of this year with only close family and friends in attendance," and added, "We ask for warm attention and support for Eun Ji-won as he embarks on this new beginning."
Earlier that day, a media report stated that Eun Ji-won recently conducted a wedding shoot with his partner, who is reportedly a non-celebrity. Nevertheless, internet users expressed messages of congratulations such as, "Finally, someone is going," "He already said it all in the variety shows," and "I hope he finds happiness."
In fact, Eun Ji-won has openly shared his honest thoughts about marriage on several broadcasts. In July of last year, he appeared on Lee Kyung-kyu's YouTube channel and said, "I originally wasn't planning to get married, but now I feel like I have to," adding, "I had no thoughts about it after the first time, but as I grew older and my mother lost my father, my thoughts changed."
He also expressed his thoughts on remarriage candidly on the variety show 'Dolsinggyeolse 6,' where he is currently active as an MC. Regarding dating someone with children, he remarked, "If I were younger, it would have been a concern, but now it's a grateful thing," adding, "It's fortunate that I can form a family without the stress of having children."
Recently, during a meeting with Sechs Kies members, he once again shared his thoughts. As Ko Ji-yong and Jang Su-won both have children, Eun Ji-won confessed, "If I have a child, I think I would quit broadcasting altogether. I'm afraid I'll become too attached to my child." He went on to quip, "I think I should remarry. What if I collapse alone and no one is there to call 119?" which drew laughter.
Less than a month after delivering the remarriage news, many fans and internet users have sent heartfelt messages wishing him well, such as, "I hope he lives happily," "Now, I hope he builds a warm family," and "He looked lonely being single all this time, so I'm relieved for him."
Meanwhile, Eun Ji-won debuted in 1997 with the group Sechs Kies, leaving behind numerous hit songs and receiving great love as a first-generation idol. He married a woman who is two years older and a former judo athlete in Hawaii in 2010, but they divorced after two years. Since then, Eun Ji-won has continued to maintain steady popularity while balancing broadcasting and music activities, embarking on a new chapter in life with this remarriage.
