G-Dragon arrives late to consecutive events… ‘disappointing response’ from concert to launch event
Singer G-Dragon (G-DRAGON) disappointed fans by arriving late to consecutive official events recently. From his solo concert after 8 years to a brand launch event, the ongoing delays have led to criticism regarding the artist's 'punctuality.'
G-Dragon held a solo concert titled 'Webermensch in Korea' at the Goyang Sports Complex on March 29 and 30. The solo performance, which took place after 8 years since 2017, confirmed his enduring popularity as all 60,000 seats sold out.
However, despite the impressive stage, the delay issue became controversial. The first day's performance was originally scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., but the actual opening was delayed by 1 hour and 13 minutes, starting at 7:43 p.m. On the second day, due to worsening weather conditions, VIP entry and the main performance were also delayed by about an hour, and the organizers issued an apology stating it was an unavoidable decision for safety reasons.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon also arrived 40 minutes late to a liquor brand launch event held today, the 13th, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan, Seoul. This event was an official schedule celebrating the launch of brand products that G-Dragon personally collaborated on; however, his arrival, which was scheduled for 7 p.m., occurred around 7:40 p.m.
An event representative explained, "The traffic congestion was more severe than expected, causing the delay," but the disappointment grew even larger given that just a few days prior, he had also faced delay controversies at the concert.
On that day, G-Dragon appeared only at the photo wall without any separate greetings, quickly posed for a few photos, and left the scene. Some fans reacted with sentiments like, "It's disappointing how he approached the official event," along with comments suggesting, "G-Dragon must have been flustered as well."
