Actor Kim Soo-hyun has filed a provisional attachment against Gaseyeon, and the court has accepted it, while one of the advertisers also placed a provisional attachment on Kim Soo-hyun's residence. The fandom warned that they would initiate a boycott if the advertising agency did not make a statement.
CLASSYS, the company that selected Kim Soo-hyun as an advertisement model, filed for a provisional attachment on the Galleria Foret Apartment owned by Kim Soo-hyun in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, through the Eastern District Court of Seoul last month, and the court accepted it. The amount claimed for the provisional attachment is reported to be about 3 billion won.
This provisional attachment action appears to have arisen from the penalty issue during the process of claiming damages as all advertisements were taken down due to Kim Soo-hyun's involvement in allegations of relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron, who was a minor. Kim Soo-hyun is currently facing a crisis where he must pay massive penalties due to the termination of various brand advertising contracts.
In response, Kim Soo-hyun's side confirmed to OSEN, "It is true that a provisional attachment has been filed," but added that, "The allegations regarding a relationship with a minor claimed by Gaseyeon are not true, and it is regrettable that the advertisers seem to be re-victimizing the victim as the situation becomes clearer that actor Kim Soo-hyun is a victim of a crime."
In particular, Kim Soo-hyun's side claims that there is a possibility that manipulated data by Gaseyeon is included as the basis for this provisional attachment decision, stating, "It is highly likely that documents such as KakaoTalk messages or recordings manipulated by Gaseyeon were submitted as evidence to the court during the process of proving that they hold a right to damages."
Additionally, Kim Soo-hyun's side stated, "It is a serious problem that such materials are presented as evidence to the court and that decisions are made based on them," and added, "If an investigation into Gaseyeon proceeds, the responsibility for the situation will become clear, and this lawsuit will likely be resolved."
They further claimed, "Just as we filed a provisional attachment against Gaseyeon, the advertiser must also substantiate their claim to damages during the provisional attachment, and it is very likely that they submitted materials such as manipulated KakaoTalk messages or recordings as evidence at that time."
Earlier, the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron claimed through the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (abbreviated as Gaseyeon) that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with the deceased for six years since her teenage years, which Kim Soo-hyun's side strongly denied, initiating legal action for defamation and other charges. Specifically, they also filed a damages lawsuit against the bereaved family and Gaseyeon, amounting to 12 billion won.
Prior to the damages lawsuit, Kim Soo-hyun filed a provisional attachment on the assets of Gaseyeon and its representative, Kim Se-eui, together with his agency Gold Medalist, and the court accepted it. As a result, the support account of Garosero Research Institute was provisionally attached, along with one apartment in Seocho-gu registered under the name of Kim Se-eui and one apartment in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, co-owned with his sister. The total claimed amount is 4 billion won, with each at 2 billion won.
Kim Soo-hyun's side explained the reason for the provisional attachment, stating, "There is a damages lawsuit filed against Kim Se-eui, and even if we win, if there are no assets, there is no way to receive it. Therefore, the provisional attachment is to ensure we can collect the assets if we win, and we must explain the reason for this when applying. It seems the court found it reasonable after reviewing the reason."
In this regard, Kim Soo-hyun's fandom released a statement saying, "The advertising agency has filed for a provisional attachment against Kim Soo-hyun, and we confirmed that the actor's personal information has been exposed to the public in this process. This is a clear secondary harm and invasion of privacy against a crime victim," and remarked, "It is extremely unfair and unreasonable from the perspective of fans who have had a good impression of the corporations and brands due to the actor that the advertiser, which profited from Kim Soo-hyun's fandom, is proceeding with a real estate provisional attachment against the innocent victim, Kim Soo-hyun."
The fandom of Kim Soo-hyun conveyed, "We ask for a clear organization of positions on this matter and responsible responses, and we hope that the situation does not escalate to a boycott of all products as consumers who recognize brands and products through the actor."
Meanwhile, Kim Soo-hyun purchased the Galleria Foret in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, for 4.02 billion won in 2013. It is currently reported to be valued at around 13.5 billion won. Kim Soo-hyun owns a total of three apartments, including this APT.
