YouTuber Milky Som (real name Lee Ye-won) issued an apology regarding YouTuber Yuuki, who was accused of sexual assault but was cleared of all charges.
On the 12th, Milky Som said on social media, "Given the severity of the situation, it took me time to reflect on my inappropriate actions and write an apology to the 1.22 million viewers and Mr. Yuuki," as she revealed her apology.
According to the apology letter released by Milky Som, she acknowledged that on April 11, 2024, while drinking with Yuuki, she felt a momentary anger at the comment, "I will only give you the signal if we go to the third round" and arbitrarily accessed Yuuki's mobile phone, capturing personal photos. Milky Som deeply apologized for the significant harm caused, including the forced exposure of Yuuki's face and the deletion of his channel, stating that the mistake was entirely hers without any justification.
In particular, Milky Som explained that at the time of the controversy, she was in a mental state that was not fully intact and had taken excessive medication (psychiatric medication related to depression and insomnia), which clouded her judgment. She stated that she has borderline intellectual disability and cannot clearly remember her remarks from that time, but she emphasized that none of this could absolve her of her mistakes, and not all people with depression or intellectual disabilities exhibit such behavior. Milky Som admitted that this incident was due to her inability to manage herself.
Among these, Milky Som claimed that a third party, referred to as Person A, was involved in the second meeting with Yuuki to discuss "settlement related to sexual harassment." Milky Som described that she had a personal involvement with Person A at that time, who was making financial demands on her. She stated that Person A demanded 80 million won at the settlement meeting, and she was so flustered that she could not intervene in the conversation. She once again apologized for causing Yuuki's emotional distress for a long period and leading to the deletion of his channel.
In delivering her apology, Milky Som stated that while she would accept the criticism directed at her, she earnestly requested that the criticism against her family be stopped.
Yuuki, a mixed-race YouTuber of Korean and Japanese descent, aroused curiosity after abruptly closing his channel in February. At the time, Yuuki said, "When I visited Korea last year, I got to know a woman cosplaying (Person A) and was falsely accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault. The other party took my drunk phone and extracted personal and private information, demanding 80 million won from someone claiming to be a cousin. After reviewing all the CCTV footage, I was cleared of all charges, and now I am filing a counter lawsuit for false accusations and five other charges, but even after that day, for over a year until this moment, I have continued to be threatened, and since I did not comply and continued my YouTube activities, my face photo was distributed, so I am stating this now."
Afterward, Yuuki disclosed the decision letter of non-prosecution, stating that in response to ongoing secondary harm, he would appoint legal counsel to file additional complaints regarding Milky Som's defamation, insults, and other related crimes and would actively pursue legal action against malicious slander and the dissemination of false facts resulting in secondary harm against him.
