Actor Kang Hoon expressed regret about not attending ‘Cannes’.

On the morning of the 12th, a production presentation for the STUDIO X+U drama ‘Hunter with a Scalpel’ took place at the Ramada Sindorim Hotel in Guro-gu, Seoul. Actors Park Ju-hyun, Park Yong-woo, Kang Hoon, and director Lee Jeong-hoon attended and shared discussions.

Based on the novel of the same name by writer Choi I-do, ‘Hunter with a Scalpel’ is a crime thriller where the forensic investigator Se-hyun, who discovers the familiar killing methods of ‘The Tailor’, a father thought to have died 20 years ago, embarks on a quest to find him before the police officer Jeong-hyeon, trying not to become his prey.

Kang Hoon took on the role of Jeong Jeong-hyeon, the head of the team who has just been appointed to the Yongcheon Police Station. He said, “I put on some weight. About 5 or 6 kg. I gained more than usual. Because it’s a police role, I have police friends around, so I asked them for advice. Since there are scenes in the script where I have to run, I worked hard on my physical fitness as well. I paid a lot of attention to my appearance. Since I’m a character who continuously approaches Seo-se-hyun, I think I put a lot of effort into acting that reflects that.”

In particular, ‘Hunter with a Scalpel’ gained significant attention after unveiling itself at the Hong Kong FILMART, the largest entertainment content market in the Asia-Pacific region before its local release. It has also received an official invitation to the Cannes Series Rendezvous section, drawing the attention of global viewers.

In response, director Lee Jeong-hoon noted, “As a drama director, opportunities to screen at film festivals or overseas are rare, so it was an honor to be able to show it abroad. The nominees for awards at the Korean Cannes Series are mainly from Korea, aside from regions in Europe. I was surprised by that and pleased to feel the status of Korean dramas.”

Park Ju-hyun, who attended the Cannes Film Festival and walked on the pink carpet, said, “It was an honor just to show our drama in the city of Cannes, and I wished to see the teams that couldn’t come together. I think it would have been better if everyone could have gone together. I am very grateful to the director. Thanks to the director’s great work, I was able to attend such an honorable event.”

Meanwhile, Park Yong-woo, who was unable to attend the festival, said, “I’m jealous,” but noted, “Since we’re all on the same team, that’s great.” In contrast, Kang Hoon candidly expressed, “I think I will regret this for the rest of my life,” drawing laughter.

‘Hunter with a Scalpel’ is scheduled for its first public release on the 16th through U+tv, U+mobiletv, and Disney+.
