Lee Geun-ho, who newly joined 'Shooting Star Season 2,' noted that he is working hard to maintain trust as the Commissioner for 'Goal-Getters.'
On the 12th, a site visit for the filming of the Coupang Play entertainment show 'Shooting Star Season 2' took place at Yongin Mir Stadium in Samga-dong, Cheoin-gu, Yongin.
'Shooting Star 2' is the only full-time growth soccer entertainment show in Korea where retired legend players challenge the K League alongside Director General Park Ji-sung and coach Choi Yong-soo. Last season, 'Shooting Star' proved its real-time popularity by surpassing 3 million cumulative views on shorts and reels, and it continues the 'Shooting Star Syndrome' toward a higher goal of challenging the K3 league with upgraded cast compared to Season 1.
The newly promoted 'FC Shooting Star' will compete against K3 clubs, the top semi-professional league in the country, which links K League 1 and K League 2. As the opponents have become stronger, the players have been upgraded to a level that could be called a dream team. This season, new players such as Gu Ja-cheol, who was a pivotal figure in winning the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and led the 'London Generation' while serving as captain of the national team; Lee Geun-ho, who won MVP and Player of the Year in the AFC Champions League; Yeom Ki-hoon, known as 'Yeom Star', who received high praise from coach Choi Yong-soo in Season 1; and legendary defender Yoon Young-sun will all sync with the existing players.
Newly joined Lee Geun-ho expressed, 'I am happy to meet with the coach and staff again. I am very grateful. While we may achieve the desired results or not, I am glad to feel the emotions of being a professional player within that process. I am genuinely committed to Shooting Star. Many people enjoyed and supported Season 1, and to repay that, not only I but everyone is working hard.'
Lee Geun-ho continued, 'I had been watching with interest since Season 1. Players who experienced Season 1 contacted me, and when I first came in, it felt like joining the national team. I had high expectations. I have met many people while playing for many teams, but I hadn't met coach Choi Yong-soo. I am happy to meet him.'
As Lee Geun-ho returns to the field, he is also elevating his physical condition. He stated, 'The biggest change is that I have been on a diet. After retiring, I always told my wife that I wanted to eat whatever I wanted, so I let it all go and ate, but now I am following the same routine I did as a player to get my body back. I feel like I've become a real player again.'
Currently, as he holds the position of Commissioner for 'Goal-Getters' and a national team match commentator for Coupang Play, Lee Geun-ho cannot help but pay attention to his performance in 'Shooting Star.' He acknowledged, 'There is a possibility that trust in my play and words may diminish, so I am being mindful of that. And being a player in 'Shooting Star' helps me understand the players' feelings better. I want to convey how genuine we need to be.'
'Shooting Star Season 2' by Coupang Play is scheduled to be released this upcoming fall.
