Actor Kim Ji-hoon shared his feelings about appearing in the new series of 'Crime Scene' for the first time in 8 years.
On Nov. 11, an ending interview with actor Kim Ji-hoon from SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'The Haunted Palace' (written by Yoon Soo-jung and directed by Yoon Sung-sik) took place at a cafe in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, Seoul.
Kim Ji-hoon captivated the audience by deeply embodying the complex aspects of the character 'King Lee Jung,' who is a righteous monarch, a loving father, and a man with a pure love for a woman. In particular, Kim Ji-hoon made his historical drama comeback after 16 years since 2009's 'Chun Choo Tae Hu,' taking on his first royal role since his debut.
Starting with 'The Haunted Palace,' Kim Ji-hoon will meet viewers this year through Netflix's 'All will be fulfilled,' a special appearance in tvN's 'Dear X,' and his next project, tvN's 'Annoying Love.' Additionally, he is set to return to the 'Crime Scene' series for the first time in a while with Netflix's entertainment show 'Crime Scene Zero,' which will be released in the second half of this year.
When asked if he intended to take on multiple projects, Kim Ji-hoon explained, "I didn't intend to, but I feel I worked hard last year. I gained confidence that I didn’t necessarily have to be the main character, which made it fun to work with skilled people."
Kim Ji-hoon added, "I have a will to be a bit proactive in places where skilled people work, so my special appearances have increased. I don't cling too much to roles, and I enjoy working with skilled individuals, which is why this year has produced such outcomes."
In particular, in the case of 'Crime Scene Zero,' this will mark his return after 8 years since appearing in 'Crime Scene 3' in 2017. Kim Ji-hoon did not participate in last year's released Tving original 'Crime Scene Returns.' In response, he humorously remarked, "First, I thought, 'Why didn't they call me for the last season? Those fools.'"
He continued, "In fact, I consider myself someone who is specialized in 'Crime Scene.' 'Crime Scene' is a work that anyone can do, but all elements must be fulfilled. If you don't have variety show skills, quick thinking, acting ability, deduction skills, and a tough veneer, you can't be in this show. It was nice to film again, and I thought, 'I really am good at 'Crime Scene'. It's foolish not to have called me.'"
Kim Ji-hoon also expressed, "The hexagon specialized for 'Crime Scene' is useless elsewhere. There won't be such programs in the future, nor has there been one so far. You need to have a high IQ as well." This reveals his special affection for 'Crime Scene.'
Meanwhile, Netflix's entertainment show 'Crime Scene Zero,' featuring Kim Ji-hoon, is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2025.
