English instructor Jo Jeong-sik has been sent to the prosecution in connection with a transaction with an active teacher, while the production team of 'Teachers2' remains silent.
On the 11th, attention is focused on the production team of Channel A's entertainment program 'Please Look After My Grades; Teachers Season 2' (abbreviated as Teachers2). It has been two days since it was revealed that the cast member, English instructor Jo Jeong-sik, allegedly purchased practice exam questions intended for private tutoring from current teachers. They have not expressed a separate official position.
On the 10th, the investigative group Sherlock stated that Jo Jeong-sik was sent to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Act and obstruction of business after purchasing practice exam questions from 21 active teachers, on the 17th of last month.
Among them, active teacher A sold practice exam questions to Jo Jeong-sik for 58 million won, and it was reported that the teacher sold questions to instructors from 11 tutoring institutions, including Jo Jeong-sik, for about 238 million won, adding to the shock. However, Jo Jeong-sik's legal representative is said to have not acknowledged the charges to Sherlock.
In the meantime, the production team of 'Teachers2' has been dragged into the controversy. 'Teachers' is an educational solution variety program in which the best instructors in Korea directly coach high school students struggling with studies and grades to improve their performance. Season 2 premiered on the 4th of last month and is currently airing every Sunday at 7:50 p.m. Jo Jeong-sik has been a fixed member alongside top math instructor Jeong Seung-je since Season 1.
Jo Jeong-sik has received praise for his sharp wit and outstanding teaching skills on 'Teachers2'. With this support, he has solidified his position into Season 2, while the allegations of illegal transaction of exam questions with an active teacher have sparked a heated debate.
Moreover, the 'Teachers2' team is planning an interview on the 13th. This interview was scheduled before the controversy surrounding Jo Jeong-sik arose, and it was meant to include not just Jo Jeong-sik but also Jeong Seung-je and the newcomer Yoo Hye-jeong in a round interview with domestic reporters.
In this regard, a representative from the 'Teachers2' team stated until the 10th that "the interview will proceed as planned." However, as the criticism against Jo Jeong-sik continues to grow, they have maintained silence as of the 11th. Attention is now focused on the responses from Jo Jeong-sik and the production team of 'Teachers2.'
