Actor Lee Jeong-ha revealed that he lost 14 kg for the filming of 'ONE' after 'Moving'.
On the afternoon of the 11th, an interview with actor Lee Jeong-ha, the lead of the Wavve original 'ONE: High School Heroes', took place at the Post Tower in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
Based on writer Lee Eun-jae's webtoon 'ONE', 'ONE: High School Heroes' is a high school action drama about the top student Eok-gyeom (played by Lee Jeong-ha), who suffers under the oppression of his father, and Yoon-ki (played by Kim Do-wan), who forms the masked 'High School Heroes' to use his innate fighting talent to unleash suppressed anger and overturn the hierarchy of school violence.
'ONE: High School Heroes' is a project that was introduced to the public about three years after filming in 2022. Lee said, "I was curious about how it would turn out since the action is different from 'Moving', and I was waiting a lot because it was a new challenge for me."
He mentioned the timing of the filming, saying, "It's a project I started just one month after finishing 'Moving'. I filmed it just months after 'Moving' wrapped up," and added, "I had about a month of time and tried to lose weight as much as possible during that month. I was almost 98-99 kg during 'Moving', but I started 'ONE' at around 85 kg and gradually lost more. By the end of the drama, I think I might lose about 5 kg from the starting weight," which surprised many.
He continued, "I tried to lose as much weight as possible when given time after the project, and I had to maintain my appearance when filming started, but I've been losing weight so sometimes my face looks different on screen." He also shared his diet tip, saying, "I didn't do intermittent fasting; instead, I extended my fasting periods and halved my meals, which helped me lose weight quickly because my basal metabolic rate is high."
Lee Jeong-ha, who showcased various forms of action in this work, described it as "difficult. The character Eok-gyeom requires mastering various actions and martial arts, which was hard as I had to learn quickly, and I tried my best to make the movements look as impressive as possible." He explained, "Since there was a lot of action, all the actors lived together in action school like a family."
He said, "Just when I think the action is increasing, another form of martial arts comes out, which was tough," noting that the hardest action for him was, "Jiu-jitsu was the most difficult. You really have to be careful with all actions, but with jiu-jitsu, if you're not careful, your arm could be twisted or worse. Just a little pressure can break an arm."
He stated, "If given the opportunity, I want to continue doing action. It gives me a sense of achievement. I get really nervous when action scenes come up because there can be risks of injury. But after finishing, when I talked with the co-actor, I felt proud thinking it turned out well," he conveyed. (Continued in interview②.)
