Park Jung-min revealed the reason he created an audiobook on "You Quiz on the Block."

On the 11th, actor Park Jung-min, who has become the representative of a two-person publishing company, appeared on the tvN entertainment show "You Quiz on the Block" (hereinafter referred to as "You Quiz").

As soon as he appeared on "You Quiz," Park Jung-min began handing out his business cards and is currently active as the representative of a two-person publishing company. He introduced his newly published book "First Summer Run," which is the third publication from the publisher.

This is a novel by writer Kim Geum-hee, and Park Jung-min said he started planning it in 2021 and completed it after four years. He explained, "It started with the concept of a listening novel. Traditionally, it's first making a paper book, then an e-book, and lastly an audiobook. But we decided to make the audiobook first. So, we introduced it to visually impaired readers as the first audience, and a month later, the paper book arrived in bookstores."

Yoo Jae-suk asked, "Is the biggest reason you created the audiobook because of your father?" Park Jung-min replied, "My father originally had a visual impairment. It has been there since I was young. Therefore, in our house, we couldn’t leave anything on the floor. I wanted to give books to not only my father but also others with visual impairments first."

Writer Kim Geum-hee also immediately joined after hearing the intention. Park Jung-min stated, "She is really popular, so as soon as I made the suggestion, I thought she would give up. While she knows me, my company is small, and I wondered if we would be able to release the book properly. I thought it might not happen, but she decided to participate just by looking at the intention."

Even friendly co-actors participated in the audiobook recordings, attracting attention by mentioning that Choi Yang-rak, Yum Jung-ah, and Hwang Jung-min were involved.

In particular, Park Jung-min recalled about his father's vision, saying, "When I was young, my mother kept cleaning the floor. She did that for my visually impaired father. That's when I realized my father had poor vision and had a disability."

When his first book, "Saving Lives," was about to be released, Park Jung-min's father lost his sight due to an accident. He said, "It was right before filming the movie '1 Victory.' My mom kept calling. I felt something was wrong, so I answered, and she said to come to the hospital quickly. Seeing my father upset about losing his sight made my heart ache even more."

He continued, "Despite having a visual impairment for 60 years, after losing his sight completely, I felt that I had pity for myself because my father couldn’t see well. I had a nasty sense of being 'the son of a person with a disability.' At that time, I felt ashamed and disgusted by the feelings I had toward myself."

He stated, "In the end, my father was the one who lived uncomfortably all his life, and that's when I first thought I should create something for my father and my family." He said he thought of the audiobook as a gift for his father.
