Jang Cheol-hyuk and Tak Young-jun, co-CEOs of SM Entertainment (hereinafter SM), have been selected as part of the 2025 Indie Power Players by Billboard.

The list of 2025 Indie Power Players announced by Billboard on the 10th (local time) proved co-CEOs Jang Cheol-hyuk and Tak Young-jun's status as global leaders in the industry, with Tak Young-jun being selected for four consecutive years since 2022 and Jang Cheol-hyuk being selected for the second consecutive year following last year.

The Indie Power Players is a list released by Billboard that announces leaders of labels and distributors that have achieved independent success in the global music market, excluding the three major labels in the U.S., namely Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group.

In particular, Billboard noted, "SM announced a new slogan, 'THE CULTURE, THE FUTURE,' in celebration of its 30th anniversary in February, showcasing ambitious projects that reflect the company's heritage and vision, including concerts, albums, and orchestra performances. Highlights include SMTOWN LIVE 2025 taking place in cities such as Seoul, LA, Mexico City, and Tokyo, as well as an SMTOWN album reinterpreting SM's legendary hit songs," while mentioning that NCT 127, aespa, and RIIZE have achieved great success and that the new girl group Hearts2Hearts has debuted.

Furthermore, co-CEOs Jang Cheol-hyuk and Tak Young-jun stated through Billboard, "We aim to strengthen our global influence and corporate leadership in the entertainment industry as we celebrate our 30th anniversary," adding, "SM is continuously dedicated to creating the future of culture based on bold creativity, solid planning, and deep respect for our legacy."

Meanwhile, co-CEOs Jang Cheol-hyuk and Tak Young-jun have been named on this list following their selection in the Billboard 2025 Global Power Players list announced in May.
