Scene stealer Cha Chung-hwa is set to appear on 'Radio Star.' From the zombies in 'Train to Busan' to the dark history of being cut from a sitcom, and the struggle with a leg injury in 'Mr. Queen,' she showcased her rich episode repertoire.
The MBC 'Radio Star' airing today (Nov. 11), planned by Kang Young-seon and directed by Kim Myung-yeop, Hwang Yoon-sang, and Byeon Da-hee, is decorated with the theme 'Actor's World,' featuring Do Ji-won, Kim Geum-soon, Cha Chung-hwa, and Han Ji-eun.
Cha Chung-hwa debuted on the theater stage in 2005, and has continued her broad activities across dramas, films, and variety shows. With her unique ability to portray characters and realistic acting tone, she earned the title of 'premium supporting actress,' and has acted as a scene stealer in numerous popular works, including 'Mr. Queen,' 'Crash Landing on You,' and 'The Haunted Palace.'
Cha Chung-hwa referred to her experience as a zombie in the film 'Train to Busan,' sharing a story about how she mastered the unique zombie walking style without using her hands on the floor. Actors Kim Geum-soon and Han Ji-eun, who appeared alongside her, also reminisced about their connection from 'Train to Busan,' making the studio erupt in laughter.
She also revealed the behind-the-scenes story of her determination in finishing the project despite injuring her leg during the filming of 'Mr. Queen.' "I filmed with a cast for three months during the final shooting. I could finish safely thanks to everyone’s help," she expressed gratitude toward the actors who worked with her and the filming staff.
She discloses her deep connection with MBC. She said, "The place where I received my first acting award and the place where I experienced frustration from being cut in a sitcom is also MBC," revealing a bittersweet past. During her rookie days, she played a key role in a sitcom but repeatedly made mistakes in an unfamiliar shooting environment, leading to her departure. After nearly 20 years of acting, she won a supporting actress award at the MBC Acting Awards for 'The Season of Ggotdu,' saying she felt all the joys and sorrows at MBC, which captured everyone’s attention.
She also elicited laughter by mentioning lookalikes, from Yeom Hye-ran to creator Lala. Additionally, he shared a surprising past, revealing that he was once scouted by singer Park Hyo-shin's agency due to his love for singing from a young age.
She can't hide her talents. Cha Chung-hwa recently performed the dance of 'Chicken Noodle Soup' by BTS J-Hope in a way that uses less joint movement, captivating the audience, raising expectations.
