Actors Ra Mi-ran and Ahn Jae-hong shared behind-the-scenes stories from the movie 'High Five'.

On the 10th, a video titled "Mother? Sister? It’s ambiguous" was uploaded to the 'TEO' channel. That day on 'Salon Drip 2', lead actors Ahn Jae-hong and Ra Mi-ran from the movie 'High Five' (directed by Kang Hyung-cheol) appeared as guests.

The two previously worked together in the tvN drama 'Reply 1988'. Jang Doyoun asked, "Didn’t Ahn Jae-hong call Ra Mi-ran ‘mother’, then ‘sister’, then ‘teacher’, and sometimes ‘senior’?" Ra Mi-ran wondered, "I’m curious about how I’m saved on his phone. It’s not ‘mother’, right?" Ahn Jae-hong replied, "It’s probably saved as ‘Ra Mi-ran senior’. That’s how I saved it at first."

Jang Doyoun asked, "Is it okay from the listeners’ perspective? If you keep calling her ‘mother’, that means you’re a very grown son." Ra Mi-ran jokingly replied, "Shouldn’t it end now?" He continued, "For the first few years, when I texted, I called her ‘omani’. I’d reply, ‘Oh, yeah, son’. But when it continued for 5 or 7 years..." Ahn Jae-hong shared, "It’s been about 10 years."

Jang Doyoun added, "I saw a meme recently that 'Reply 1988' was very popular in China." Ra Mi-ran responded, "No matter where I go, people call me Jungbong's mom. Usually, people often say 'Mamachita', but when we went on a reward vacation for ‘Reply 1988’ to Thailand, it was so popular that fans were waiting at the airport. When we entered a massage shop, the staff called us ‘Jungbong's mom’ in perfect pronunciation. When I asked, ‘How do you know?’ they said they were looking at it on their phone."

Jang Doyoun mentioned, "Recently, a certain actor in China said Jungbong is their ideal type, and a fan banner with Jungbong's 'monk meme' appeared, creating a buzz," and Ahn Jae-hong expressed his confusion, saying, "I saw that too. I'm curious how it came about. Why were they holding a fan with my picture?"

He said, "I heard that photo is liked by many Chinese people. I recently shot a car commercial in China, and all the staff printed that photo to get my autograph. When I asked how they knew that photo, they said it’s used a lot to represent 'inner peace'. So they called me ‘Buddha man’. I don’t get flustered like Buddha. They often use that meme to say I don’t get flustered by anything."

Jang Doyoun asked, "Every time both of you transform into characters, it’s spectacular. You both are always labeled as actors who make drastic transformations. Is there pressure to outdo your previous work?" Ra Mi-ran replied, "If you push yourself too much, it doesn’t work out. Anything done in excess is not good. The moment I want to do something out of desire, I already failed. I try to not take it too seriously. And I feel the title of a transformation genius doesn’t really apply to me, but in Jae-hong's case, I think, ‘How is he trying to pull that off?’" She added, "I later saw that character from 'Mask Girl'. People were in such an uproar about it. It’s said to be his retirement work. I was curious about how much effort went into it, but the sad thing is, the makeup suited him so well. It’s like a perfect match."

He mentioned, "Not long ago, I appeared on 'SNL'. Ahn Jae-hong acts so confidently that I thought he would fly while doing his role, but I could see he was embarrassed. I thought he should have done more, but he said he couldn’t do any more." Ahn Jae-hong expressed that he felt a strong contrast during his performance, saying, "The audience response was completely different from when filming a movie or series."

Jang Doyoun asked, "When was the most embarrassing moment for you?" Ahn Jae-hong replied, "I felt my eyes watering when I dressed up as Angel during TMI. I first said the word ‘Gyaru’ that day. It was really fun." Ra Mi-ran asked, "What if they ask you to come back?" Ahn Jae-hong, looking empty, said, "I think it was a really great experience."

They also talked about their characters in 'High Five'. Ra Mi-ran stated, "The characters that received organ transplants and gained superpowers are not heroes or anything like that; they are really ordinary people." Ahn Jae-hong hinted, "I still can’t find out what kind of superpower the fairy Mi-ran noona has." Ra Mi-ran added, "Everyone else has something noticeable like strong winds or enhanced strength, but I don’t have anything noticeable, so I’m wondering, ‘Is my superpower to become prettier?’ I had a kidney transplant and people say, ‘Your skin looks better,’ or ‘You’ve become prettier,’ so I guess that must be it."

Ahn Jae-hong remarked, "The impact when superpowers manifest is huge." Ra Mi-ran mentioned, "Since there could be people watching it later, if I reveal everything, it’ll be boring. Please check it out in theaters." She confidently added, "It’s been a while since we had a film that truly shines in theaters, and I think this is one of them." When asked what she looked forward to the most while preparing for the fairy role, she replied, "What was nice about the initial proposal for this character was that it's for a single and pretty person. I think that’s why the director cast me." Jang Doyoun asked, "Is it because you are pretty?" Ra Mi-ran honestly answered, "I don’t think I’m pretty, but the role thinks so."

Jang Doyoun asked, "I’ve heard that Ahn Jae-hong can play the recorder by blowing air into it." Ahn Jae-hong explained, "I have a superpower now that creates a huge vacuum but I can’t aim it. The recorder is actually a training sequence for me to increase my accuracy." Jang Doyoun started a conversation about Ahn Jae-hong's short hair, to which he replied, "I’ve been told that short hair suits me well. I asked the director, ‘What if I grow my hair long? To make the wind visible.’ Actually, I didn’t think my short hair looked that special. But when the stills for 'High Five' came out, I realized that the short hair is indeed a bold choice, and I came to understand that late."

Furthermore, regarding CG, Ra Mi-ran said, "There are many scenes where I’m with (Lee) Jae-in and (Park) Jinyoung, and we didn’t use many doubles; we did a lot ourselves. We went to action school to prepare a lot. We just went to have fun. Jae-in plays the drums and does action while we just say 'Oh' and watch. Jae-hong prepared a lot for the wind. Senior Kim Hee-won only has to reach out a hand to get better. If it’s not a lot of CG, it’s more about ordinary people asking, ‘Does your shoulder hurt?’ and touching to heal. I think that’s another type of fun."

When asked if there were external changes or efforts made for the character, Ra Mi-ran replied, "I realized I didn’t need to do that; I already had everything. I thought, 'This is why they cast me.'" Jang Doyoun asked, "Was this character made after you decided to work with actress Ra Mi-ran?" Ra Mi-ran answered, "Let’s just say that’s how it is." He said, "In a way, I really need to lighten the mood here, but I tend to be a bit shy. That’s what’s hard. Looking pretty isn't a problem, but I have to create that atmosphere, so those types of roles are always tough."

Seeing this, Jang Doyoun remarked, "Mi-ran looks like a ghost today, doesn’t she?" and added, "They say that a really good actress can be possessed by a character. It gives that feeling." Ahn Jae-hong replied, "I thought she was joking when she said that. She raises the energy when she talks about it. She’s very energetic and people often mistakenly think she's lively, but she has many fun roles, so I feel there's a significant gap." Ra Mi-ran shared, "I’m said to be ENTP, but I think I’m socially E. I think I reveal my E traits while working, but my essence is I."

Finally, Ra Mi-ran expressed, "I came out today to promote the movie, but I’d like to chat informally next time. Even if we have nothing to say and just sit in silence for three hours, it would be nice to have such a time without pressure." Ahn Jae-hong added, "It was so much fun to come on content I love so much. As I mentioned earlier, I’m having a great time here. Please give a lot of love to 'High Five'."
