BTS members RM and V shared their feelings about returning from military service.
RM and V completed their mandatory military service in the army on the morning of the 10th and returned to their fans. The two joined the army as active duty soldiers in December 2023 and served for 1 year and 6 months. RM served in the Army's 15th Infantry Division band, while V served in the 802nd Military Police Group of the 2nd Corps.
On that day, after completing the discharge process at the base, the two met with reporters and fans at a soccer field in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, to greet everyone. They later conducted a live broadcast through the official fan community Weverse, expressing their gratitude to domestic and international fans who had been waiting for them.
RM said, "It was frustrating because I was on vacation toward the end of my service, and I was working hard climbing stairs without eating lunch. But last night, I talked with my juniors for a long time, and when I lay down around 2 a.m., I cried a lot. So, I became very emotional. I felt all the joys and sorrows of humans yesterday. Thinking about my juniors made me a bit sentimental. It wasn't entirely enjoyable; it was enjoyable, but I felt various emotions."
V noted, "I cried a bit when my seniors were discharged, but I didn’t shed a tear when it was my turn." He added, "I talked a lot about my friends' dreams. Living with these friends for a year and a half made me genuinely cheer for their dreams and wonder if there was anything I could do to help them. It was a unique experience in the army."
RM revealed that it felt like he was a trainee again in the army, saying, "When I first entered the dormitory in Nonhyeon-dong at 17 years old, I lived with 30 people, and now at 30 years old, going through that experience again felt like being a trainee again. Before enlisting, I hadn't gotten into serious trouble, but as soon as I got to the army, I faced a lot of challenges. It was an experience of starting over again. I became very close with friends who had also served in the military."
He added, "It wasn't all fun and enjoyable, but that’s how it is. Still, after going through it, I had many thoughts. Everyone has gone through this. While we were enjoying our fun in society, someone was doing this here. It was a time to think about many things I hadn't considered before."
V also agreed, saying, "Of course, there were tough parts during military service, but the best part was meeting various friends, listening to their different life stories, exchanging conversations, and creating memories that I've never had before."
Additionally, during the live broadcast, Jin made a surprise appearance wearing a ribbon, further enhancing the warmth of the moment by congratulating the two on their discharge.
