Broadcaster Lee Kyung-kyu has found himself embroiled in unexpected drug-driving allegations, drawing renewed public interest in the fact that he has been taking various medications due to health issues.

Earlier, Lee Kyung-kyu acknowledged red flags regarding his health by revealing his high blood pressure and blood sugar levels through his YouTube channel "God Kyung-kyu" last April.

In that video, he recorded a systolic blood pressure of 155 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 106 mmHg, while his fasting blood sugar was measured at 134 mg/dL and postprandial blood sugar at 156 mg/dL, surprising his fans. He said, "I am not diabetic, but I need to be cautious," pledging to manage his health.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that Lee Kyung-kyu recently drove someone else's imported vehicle due to a parking management error at an indoor golf course in Gangnam, Seoul, and tested positive for drugs in a police quick test. This has raised suspicions of drug driving.

Lee Kyung-kyu has since articulated his position directly. He stated, "I am taking medication for panic disorder and cold medicine, and I was told some of their ingredients could cause a positive reaction." He has asserted that he clarified his use of related medications during the police investigation.

However, the police noted, "Even if the medications are prescribed properly, if they can affect driving, it may constitute a violation of road traffic laws," and they stated that they will continue their related investigation.

In particular, Lee Kyung-kyu previously appeared on KBS2's "Problem Child in House" where he remarked, "The most frightening person is the one who pretends," expressing his life philosophy to guard against pretense and deceit. Thus, trust in his explanation is currently under scrutiny. Internet users have also responded, saying, "It seems true that he has been taking various medications for health reasons," and "I worry this incident will worsen his health." There are comments like, "He does not seem like someone who would lie," as well as, "It’s a fact that violations can occur," and "Let’s wait for the investigation results."
