The group SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, THE 8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) has once again achieved top rankings on the Billboard main album chart in the United States.
According to a chart preview article posted on the official website of the music industry media Billboard on the 8th (local time), SEVENTEEN's 5th full album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY' reached 2nd place on the main album chart 'Billboard 200' (as of June 14). This matches the record of their highest ranking achieved with the mini albums 10 'FML' and 11 'SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN'.
As a result, SEVENTEEN has placed 9 albums consecutively in the upper ranks of 'Billboard 200' starting from mini album 8 'Your Choice'. Among these, 7 albums, from the 4th full album 'Face the Sun' to the new album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY', have consecutively entered the top 10.
'HAPPY BURSTDAY' topped the Worldwide iTunes Albums chart immediately after its release and swept 1st place on domestic and international charts. The first-week sales of the new album surpassed 2.52 million copies, setting the highest record among K-pop albums released this year, and claimed 1st place across major charts, including Japan's Oricon 'Weekly Combined Album Ranking' and 'Weekly Album Ranking', and China's QQ Music daily and weekly 'Digital Bestseller Album' comprehensive sectors.
The reaction to the title track 'THUNDER' is explosive. This song topped the Bugs real-time and daily charts and the Melon 'TOP 100', followed by securing 1st place in the digital sector of the latest Circle Chart weekly chart (compilation period May 25–31). It also landed rankings in major global charts, including Billboard 'Global 200', 'Global (excluding U.S.)', and the Official UK Chart's 'Single Downloads' and 'Single Sales', as well as Billboard Japan's 'Hot 100'.
Thanks to the steady popularity of their albums and songs, SEVENTEEN achieved 1st place on SBS 'Inkigayo' on the 8th (Korea time), marking their 5th victory on music shows. They expressed gratitude to their fans, known as CARAT, saying, 'Thank you to the CARAT fans who have cheered for us so much. Thanks to the CARATs, we are meaningfully celebrating our 10th anniversary since our debut.' They also noted, 'I want to tell the members, “You did well.”'
