Singer Soy conveyed warm empathy and support for her sister Hae-i's life story.
Hae-i and Soy appeared on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' broadcast on the afternoon of the 4th. On this day, as Hae-i's life, who is a professor of English literature at a U.S. state university, was highlighted, Soy appeared to support her sister and noted her recent activities, stating, "I am active as a one-person band called Raspberry Field and also continue to work as an actress."
Hae-i surprised the MCs by announcing that she was appointed as a U.S. university professor after 162 attempts. Hae-i said, "From the time I received my doctorate in 2018, I applied to 162 universities over three years. In the beginning, I had a lot of confidence and hope, but as rejections continued and I faced many failures at the final stages, the process of enduring was difficult."
Hae-i also confessed, "My father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I thought I should be by my dad's side, so I considered giving up my professor appointment and thought I should go to Korea, but he told me to live for my dreams until the end. One day, I received a call saying it was urgent and rushed back to Korea, only to learn that he had passed away three hours prior. I still feel very sorry that I couldn't be there at his passing," after which she read a poem her father had written, expressing gratitude and longing for him through tears.
Soy expressed her respect for her sister, saying, "I was born as my sister's subordinate. I had a strong desire to do everything my sister did, so when she sang, I sang, and when I couldn't sing as well as her, I rapped. In trying to catch up with my sister, I became a better person."
Finally, Hae-i captivated Yoo Jae-suk and Cho Sae-ho with her pure voice and clear emotions as she sang 'Park of Your World,' a song that led her on the path of becoming a singer, while Soy followed along, moving the viewers with her sister's song.
