Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu revealed that not only did he drive someone else's car, but he also tested positive for drugs, sparking allegations of driving under the influence due to medication for panic disorder.
According to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station on the 9th, Lee Kyung-kyu is under preliminary investigation for violating the Road Traffic Act.
Lee Kyung-kyu reportedly drove a vehicle identical to his foreign car, arriving at his company around 2 p.m. on the 8th at an indoor golf practice facility in Gangnam, Seoul.
The owner of the vehicle had reported a suspected vehicle theft, but police determined that a parking attendant mistakenly handed the vehicle over to Lee Kyung-kyu.
After returning to the indoor golf practice facility, Lee Kyung-kyu was investigated by police. He underwent a drink and drug test, which showed a negative result for alcohol, but a preliminary test indicated a positive result for drugs.
Later, in an interview with a media outlet, Lee Kyung-kyu explained, "The positive drug test result from the police investigation was due to medication for my panic disorder and cold medicine."
Lee Kyung-kyu stated, "There are ingredients in panic disorder medication that can result in a positive test result," adding, "I neither drank alcohol nor took any illegal drugs."
He also commented on driving someone else's vehicle, saying, "The car was switched due to a parking attendant's mistake," and noted, "I think the situation has been exaggerated and misunderstood because of the nature of being a celebrity."
