Actress Sagang candidly shared her experiences for those about to undergo surgery and hormone treatment.
On the 9th, Sagang noted through her social media, "I’m writing a few words in case there are people curious about surgery and hormone medications," sharing her honest feelings about her recent surgery, recovery process, and the medications she is currently taking.
Sagang said, "abnormal findings were discovered during a regular check-up, but until the day before hospitalization, I had no symptoms that made me doubt whether surgery was really necessary at all," adding, "I heard that hormone medicines can lead to menopausal symptoms, and weight gain is also a concern... I was more afraid of the side effects of the medication than the surgery."
However, the situation changed unexpectedly. On the day of admission, Sagang recalled, "I experienced an extreme pain that I had never felt before, making it impossible to get up, and ultimately, a 7 cm tumor ruptured, making surgery unavoidable." She added, "Thanks to the excellent doctor, I was able to finish the surgery without any issues," expressing her gratitude toward the medical staff.
Sagang also shared her experiences regarding the hormone medication 'Bijan' that she is taking post-surgery. She stated, "It’s already been three and a half months since I started taking them, and I have not experienced the menopausal symptoms I feared, and any weight gain is manageable through appetite control," explaining, "The medication itself does not contain components that cause weight gain, but only somewhat stimulates appetite."
Additionally, she mentioned, "I wish someone had written stories like this before the surgery, but there weren’t any," and added, "I hope my words can be a small help to those searching right now before their surgery." Lastly, Sagang warmly concluded, "Health is indeed the best. Let’s all stay healthy and not be sick."
Many fans and netizens are expressing their support for Sagang's honest and courageous confession, saying, "We support you," "Thank you for the helpful information," and "This is a heartwarming post."
Below is a comprehensive post from Sagang on her social media.
I am writing this in case there are those curious about surgery and hormone medications!!
Until the day before hospitalization after confirming illness (정기검진), I had no particular symptoms. It was just an irregular feeling? Except for the dizziness I have been living with, I had no other areas that hurt, so even when I was asked at the hospital, "Didn't it hurt?" I had doubts, thinking maybe I didn’t need this surgery.
Even until the day before admission, I wondered if I should cancel the surgery and observe the situation. I read various articles online about how medication could cause symptoms similar to menopause and that it would lead to weight gain... Eventually, the day of admission arrived, fearing the hormone medication more than the surgery!!
When I woke up, I was in so much pain that it was hard to even stand, and I headed to the hospital. When I expressed my pain during the admission process, I was told that pain relief medication I had scheduled would be given after the surgery, but I held back, thinking what could be so painful at a hospital this large! What was inside me, about 7 cm, had ruptured and was causing havoc, which was foolish of me!! Thankfully, under the excellent care of my doctor, the surgery went very well, and I’m grateful.
After going through recovery post-surgery, the first check-up appointment was approaching. Honestly, I didn’t want to go since I had to start taking medication from then on.
The introduction became too long while writing… I really wanted to share this message with those who might be searching everywhere with similar troubles!! Of course, it can vary from person to person, but as I was worried before the surgery, I was searching for articles online and found only negative ones about the side effects from the hormone medication, making it difficult to find positive perspectives! I was fearful and thought, even though I had to take medication, I could hold off on taking it and just observe the situation post-surgery.
Now, it has been three and a half months since I started taking the medication called 'Bijan'! Weight gain? The medication doesn’t have weight gain ingredients, but there are appetite-stimulating components (manageable). Menopausal symptoms? Not yet. Recurrence probability? 45%-50%? (Since the recurrence rate is high, I must take the medication regularly).
Before the surgery, before taking the medication… I earnestly hoped someone would write such an article… I hope that my writing can be that for someone. I wish those about to undergo surgery all the best in their procedures and good health!! If you have any personal inquiries, please DM me; health truly is the greatest! Let’s all stay healthy and not be sick!
