Actors Lee Jun-young and Jeong Eun-ji shared their thoughts on the conclusion of the drama '24-Hour Health Club.'
Lee Jun-young and Jeong Eun-ji played the roles of a gym fanatic and a novice member, respectively, in the KBS2 drama '24-Hour Health Club,' which concluded with its 12th episode on the 5th (written by Kim Ji-soo, directed by Park Joon-soo and Choi Yeon-soo).
'24-Hour Health Club' is a thrilling growth comic romance, featuring a gym fanatic who believes that everything is contained in exercise and drastically corrects the lives of novice members filled with worries.
In '24-Hour Health Club,' Lee Jun-young portrayed Director Do Hyun-jung, who suddenly takes over an old gym from a world-renowned bodybuilder, while Jeong Eun-ji played the role of Im Mi-ran, a novice gym member who enters the gym after a shocking breakup, delivering a passionate performance.
The two provided delightful excitement and joyful laughter to the audience, showcasing the seamless chemistry between the trainer and the members, which became a sweet romance after they became lovers. They shared their concluding thoughts in a Q&A format through their agency Billions.
Next is the Q&A with Lee Jun-young and Jeong Eun-ji regarding '24-Hour Health Club.'
Q. What are your thoughts on finishing '24-Hour Health Club'?
A. (Lee Jun-young) I feel relieved. I have no regrets since I prepared really hard for this project. I'm thankful because it seems to have given me the message that 'I can do it too.'
A. (Jeong Eun-ji) This project gave me the courage to take on new challenges. I was really happy to work with great people.
Q. What kind of characters do you think Hyun-jung & Mi-ran are, and were there any difficulties or particular aspects you focused on while acting?
A. (Lee Jun-young) Hyun-jung is a character who believes that 'everything is contained in exercise' and is a bit frustrating but is a friend who knows nothing but exercise. When I had concerns while acting, the director provided a lot of direction, so there were no particular difficulties.
A. (Jeong Eun-ji) When I first met the character Mi-ran, she seemed like someone who does her job well, is confident, and has a good personality, so I wondered why she couldn't receive true love or why she craved love so much. I realized that the relationship with her mother had caused her to develop a somewhat negative frame, which helped me understand Mi-ran more deeply. I thought the role of Mi-ran is to make viewers question, 'Why do they think such a person doesn't deserve love?' I hope that both Mi-ran and I can come to understand that loving oneself first is the most important thing, and I paid close attention to those aspects.
Q. Are there any similarities between your role and your actual self, or on the contrary, any differences?
A. (Lee Jun-young) I felt that I share similarities in maintaining a diet and in being devoted to completing tasks once I start. My speaking style is completely different.
A. (Jeong Eun-ji) Similarities include that I love eating and people, while I think the differences lie in everything else beyond those two.
Q. As you part with '24-Hour Health Club', is there anything you would like to say to Hyun-jung & Mi-ran?
A. (Lee Jun-young) I hope you pay more attention to breathing and keep getting along well with Mi-ran and the other members.
A. (Jeong Eun-ji) I hope you continue to learn how to love. Just like the process of discovering myself through exercise, I wish you would learn to love yourself as you are while loving Director Do Hyun-jung.
Q. What kind of piece do you think '24-Hour Health Club' will remain for you two?
A. (Lee Jun-young) Since I had to challenge myself in both breaking down and bulking up, it seems to me that it will remain a challenging work.
A. (Jeong Eun-ji) I think it will be remembered as a grateful work where I could challenge myself in many ways.
Q. You have been called 'the trend among trends' as you have been active in various works like 'Melo Movie', 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', 'Weak Hero Class 2', and '24-Hour Health Club' this year. How do you feel about that?
A. (Lee Jun-young) First of all, I want to thank you for your love, and I'm trying not to get overly excited. I only want to live true to myself while feeling grateful.
Q. You are thriving as a 'versatile entertainer' who has captured both the singer and actor fields. Are there any new fields, genres, or roles you would like to challenge in the future?
A. (Jeong Eun-ji) I would like to meet many characters that are different from those I've acted until now.
Q. What are your plans for activities in the second half of 2025?
A. (Lee Jun-young) I plan to prepare an album, hold a fan meeting, and shoot my next project.
A. (Jeong Eun-ji) I am preparing for a project in the second half of the year, and I am also planning a solo album and Apink activities, so I will greet you with good works.
Q. Please say something to the viewers who loved '24-Hour Health Club.'
A. (Lee Jun-young) Thank you for being a part of '24-Hour Health Club' until now. I hope everyone stays safe and always happy. Goodbye!
A. (Jeong Eun-ji) While living as Mi-ran, I was able to learn a lot about the value of people and the importance of diligence. I also learned again that just as much as physical muscles are important, mental muscles are as well, and for that, a healthy body is the foundation. I hope everyone who watched '24-Hour Health Club' stays healthy in both body and mind while exercising. Goodbye!
