MC Park Soo-hong of "Our Baby Has Been Born" revealed that he is overcoming difficulties and experiencing the happiest time of his life.
Park Soo-hong is actively helping mothers with their births alongside Yang Se-hyung as a co-host on TV CHOSUN's "Our Baby Has Been Born" (directed by Lee Seung-hoon, Kim Joon, written by Jang Joo-yeon), which airs every Friday at 10 p.m.
"Our Baby Has Been Born" (hereafter referred to as "U-Agi") is the country's first live-birth variety show that provides support to those expecting a child amid the rarity of childbirth today, sharing the precious journey of life until its birth and broadcasting the vivid emotional moments that can only be felt on delivery day.
Having overcome family conflicts, Park Soo-hong married Kim Da-ye, who is 23 years younger than him, in 2021, and successfully became pregnant through in vitro fertilization after overcoming infertility, giving birth to his daughter, Ja-i, in October of last year, receiving much congratulations. Recently feeling the emotions of becoming a father, Park has been actively empathizing and supporting at "U-Agi" delivery sites, operating as a "delivery fairy."
"Late bloomer dad" Park Soo-hong is experiencing a period of happiness like never before. Having been hurt by his family, the comfort and healing he receives from his new family is indescribable. He said, "The part about meeting my wife and having my daughter during difficult times is something I feel I will look back on and think, 'I really did well,' and 'It was really meaningful' when I one day close this chapter of my life. Celebrities live a glamorous life, but there is emptiness behind it. Some may tell me not to complain, but there are many hollow moments. I wonder if there's anything that provides more satisfaction than achieving something in my work."
In particular, the title of "dad" holds a special meaning for him. Park stated, "There are many titles in the world, but I think this is one that everyone should experience at least once. I think I must have hoped to become a dad like this. I am first grateful to my wife, and now I feel like I have someone I wouldn't hesitate to give everything for. Among many animals, only humans need to be protected for several years. It is meaningful to meet someone who truly needs protection and care from another person."
Park Soo-hong expressed his gratitude by saying, "So, I am grateful to my wife, and I am also thankful to my pet cat, Dahong. I think this is true happiness. There were times I thought I had no regrets about my past efforts, but I am certain that if I hadn't met my wife and child, my life would have been full of regrets. People say, 'To avoid regrets, you must take responsibility for your choices,' but I couldn't do that. I thought that it was better to live a life where I didn't have to take responsibility while I was in my 40s, thinking it was my fate. I thought that marriage and children wouldn't be part of my life, but if I could go back to that moment, I wonder if I would have made better choices. Even if it’s late, there seems to be a destiny for oneself."
Park Soo-hong reminisced about the time he was hurt by his family. He said, "When the family conflicts became public, I couldn't even drink water properly. I left all shows, including 'Dongchimi,' for a while. I felt like I had to die. But now, being able to work, meeting my wife, marrying her, having a daughter, and supporting the birth of a new life is a miracle," he began. "In fact, when I came to a point where I couldn't live on my own, it was Dahong who took care of me. I was worried about Dahong, but it was Dahong who gave me strength, led me to meet my wife, and ultimately marry her and have a daughter. That's what family is, I believe. I must show that I am living well. They say life is a series of choices, and I think my choice to live my life has created the present results. To those who are struggling, I dare to say, be happy. If I had made different choices during difficult times, I don't want to think about it, but now I am very happy."
Having overcome difficulties and found happiness, Park Soo-hong's message and resonance with the public can’t help but be significant. He shared, "Please do not get tired and, as long as you two hold hands and support each other, those tough moments will become meaningful times. Even if they don't, there are many different forms of families in the world, so I want to say don’t ever give up, and don't feel burdened."
