In "Gourmet chef Heo Young-man's table journey," Jung Il-woo revealed the reason he has visited the Santiago pilgrimage route three times.
On the broadcast of TV CHOSUN's "Gourmet chef Heo Young-man's table journey" (hereafter "table journey") on the 8th, Jung Il-woo made an appearance.
That day, after ordering mushroom hot pot, the two sat outdoors. Jung Il-woo said, "I am now filming a lot of historical dramas, so I'm traveling to various provinces and hiking in the mountains. Compared to my friends of the same age, I think I've filmed quite a few historical dramas. I've shot six works."
Heo Young-man asked, "What is the reason you are well-cast in historical dramas?" Jung Il-woo responded, "They said that I look good in traditional clothing. They said my face is modern yet suits traditional clothing well."
Above all, Jung Il-woo has proven himself as a top star by filming two works a year. In this regard, Jung Il-woo said, "Just before I went to the military, I filmed seven works in a year and a half," and Heo Young-man was surprised, asking, "How did you manage to invite someone doing so well?" Jung Il-woo humbly replied, "No, that was really when I was at my peak work time."
Then Heo Young-man wondered, "Who manages your income?" Jung Il-woo said, "Until my late 20s, my mother managed it for me, and after that, I manage it myself, but since I'm doing it, I haven't saved anything," he laughed.
Meanwhile, Jung Il-woo revealed the reason he has visited the Santiago pilgrimage route three times. He recalled, "When I was in my 20s, I had been working a lot when I was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm. My vision really went dark. While thinking I didn’t know what would happen tomorrow, I thought, 'Let’s go for it,' so I went."
He continued, "Every Sunday, there is a mass for pilgrims at Santiago Cathedral. While attending that mass, I cried my heart out. I don't know why I cried, but I wept uncontrollably. After that, my foreign friends I met while walking asked if I was okay and why I was crying so much. But after crying like that, my heart calmed down, and something was organized in my mind."
In particular, through past video footage, Jung Il-woo mentioned, "Santiago is perhaps the happiest time of my life. I came to empty myself, but on the contrary, I leave with many things filled. I was very happy and if you guys have time, I hope you come too." He said, "It seems I’ve changed my mindset to enjoy life more and to be grateful for everything now."
