Yook Sung-jae sacrificed himself to defeat the Palchuk ghost.

In the SBS weekend drama 'The Haunted Palace' aired on 7th, Gang-cheol (Yook Sung-jae) sacrificed himself to eliminate the Palchuk ghost to save Yeori (Kim Ji-yeon).

Yeori entered the palace to meet Lee Jeong (Kim Ji-hoon), who was possessed by the Palchuk ghost, in order to eliminate the ghost alone. Yeori faced Lee Jeong alone, but Poongsan assisted the Palchuk ghost from behind. In the end, Yeori found herself in a crisis. At that moment, Gang-cheol appeared.

Gang-cheol, helping Yeori, said, 'You are wrong. If you go first, how am I supposed to endure the long years without you?' However, Yeori desperately urged him to go, fearing something might happen to him.

Lee Jeong, possessed by the Palchuk ghost, swung a cursed sword and shouted, 'On the night my flesh and blood were dying, I shouted for help hundreds of times. But you prioritized ascension, having no interest in us at all.' He exclaimed, 'Did you call yourself a god? If that's the kind of god you are, I don’t need you. I will end you.'

Gang-cheol stabbed Lee Jeong with a sword, but he was unable to withstand Lee Jeong's strength and was thrown away. In a fit of rage, Lee Jeong approached Yeori and choked her. The Palchuk ghost revealed itself in Yeori's eyes.

Yeori looked at Gang-cheol with a mournful gaze. Gang-cheol took out the golden wormwood he had been holding. Seeing this, Yeori shouted, 'No!' but eventually, Gang-cheol put the golden wormwood in his mouth.

Gang-cheol said, 'You are right. Despite having the power of a god, I could not save you. Then let me save you now.' In the end, Gang-cheol exhausted the luminous pearl to eliminate the Palchuk ghost.

Meanwhile, that day, Yeori was saddened by Gang-cheol's disappearance, and Gang-cheol met the Jade Emperor, chose a human life, and was resurrected in three days, leading to a happy ending.
