Actress Jang Sin-young shared her feelings about returning with 'The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun.'
On the 5th, the production presentation for the new MBC daily drama 'The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun' took place at MBC in Sangam. The event was hosted by announcer Lim Hyun-joo, and actress Jang Sin-young, Seo Ha-jun, Yoon Ah-jung, Oh Chang-seok, Lee Ru-da, and Director Kim Jin-hyung attended.
Set to premiere on the 9th (Monday), the new MBC daily drama 'The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun' (planned by Jang Jae-hoon/directed by Kim Jin-hyung/written by Seol Kyung-eun/produced by MBC C&I) depicts a woman's desperate revenge against a conglomerate in a world where victims transform into perpetrators, all in the name of her only daughter.
In the drama, Jang Sin-young plays the role of Baek Seol-hee, a charming single mother who attracts people's attention with her kind words and bright, positive energy. This marks her first return to work following her husband Kang Kyung-jun's infidelity controversy.
Jang Sin-young's husband, actor Kang Kyung-jun, was accused of being a homewrecker and faced a 50 million won damage claim in December 2023. During the first trial held at the Seoul Family Court on July 24 last year, Kang Kyung-jun's side decided to conclude the case by accepting the plaintiff's claims.
On that day, Jang Sin-young addressed concerns over whether the 'personal controversies would hinder viewer immersion,' saying, "I am grateful to the director for giving me the opportunity to play Baek Seol-hee. I was really thirsty for acting, and when this opportunity came, I thought, 'I should really give it my all,' and I worked hard."
"Every time I shot a scene, I thought, 'This is the last of this drama,' and 'This is the last of my acting,' so I poured my heart into it," she cautiously shared. "I believe if viewers see that sincerity, they might feel it too. Since I am working with my whole heart, I hope they will focus more on my character or the content of our drama rather than my personal matters."
