Lee Jun-young and Jeong Eun-ji have begun a bumpy romance.
In the 11th episode of the KBS 2TV drama ’Pump Up the Healthy Love' (directed by Park Jun-soo and Choi Yeon-soo, written by Kim Ji-soo), which aired on 4th, Do Hyun-jung (played by Lee Jun-young) and Lee Mi-ran (played by Jeong Eun-ji) finally confirmed their feelings for each other, pumping the pulse of viewers.
On that day’s broadcast, Hyun-jung and Mi-ran, who had become Tteokbokki mates, appeared to grow closer as they spent more time together. In particular, Hyun-jung created heart-fluttering moments by inadvertently holding Mi-ran’s hand while watching the first snow together, further immersing viewers in their emotional storyline.
Hyun-jung received an offer to be a cover model from the health magazine ‘Muscle Man Korea’ and gladly accepted but was confused when he learned that his body fat percentage had exceeded 10% for the first time in his life. Unable to accept muscle loss, he decided to embark on another body transformation with the goal of ‘the reincarnation of David’, and his excessive enthusiasm brought laughter.
However, every time he saw Mi-ran, Hyun-jung, swayed by the temptation of Tteokbokki, started to experience carbohydrate withdrawal symptoms even associating the 1.5 kg dumbbell with Tteokbokki. His attempts to avoid Mi-ran, resulting in a classic ‘avoidance’ phase, kept viewers guessing.
On the other hand, Mi-ran, who thought she was getting along well with Hyun-jung, felt hurt by his avoidance and caused a feeling of wistfulness. She turned to her younger sister Lee Ji-ran (played by Lee Da-eun), a dating expert, even learning flirting techniques to boost her spirits, but felt even more confused by his remark, ‘Please stop talking about Tteokbokki. It’s so annoying!’ Mi-ran, feeling dejected, soon learned about a dispatch to the Hawaii branch from her company, which changed her demeanor and raised curiosity about future developments.
Meanwhile, suffering from withdrawal symptoms, Hyun-jung accidentally ran into Mi-ran at a Tteokbokki restaurant and realized that what he truly liked was not just Tteokbokki but the company of Mi-ran while eating it. He decided to give up the cover model spot with ‘Muscle Man Korea’ and chose Mi-ran, ending his avoidance phase and bringing an interesting change as he became aware of his feelings. However, Mi-ran, already hurt, changed her trainer to Alex (played by Lee Seung-woo) and stopped coming to the gym, leaving Hyun-jung feeling regretful about her absence. With the help of Ji-ran, he went to find Mi-ran, who was at ‘Sans Gym’ (a combination of a mountain and a gym).
Towards the end of the show, Hyun-jung’s direct moment elicited cheers from everyone. In front of Mi-ran, he confessed sincerely, saying, ‘The fat that I used to want to help you lose is cute. Now you, Mi-ran, are not qualified to be a trainer. I like you.’ In response, Mi-ran kissed him, confirming their feelings for each other, and their kiss ending heightened the ‘heart muscle’ of viewers to its peak. The romance of the gym rat who even risked muscle loss has heightened expectations for the final episode.
