Singer-songwriter Jang Pil-soon has unveiled a new song, "Melody of Love," after two and a half years.
Jang Pil-soon released the new single "Melody of Love" on an online music platform at noon on the 4th. It is her first new song in 2 years and 6 months since her EP "Thank You" in December 2022, and it is a classic ballad love song. "Melody of Love" was a gift from her longtime music collaborator Lee Kyoo-ho for Jang Pil-soon and Jo Dong-ik.
Musician Jo Dong-ik is a companion in Jang Pil-soon’s music and life and was responsible for the arrangement of "Melody of Love." The song was inspired by Lee Kyoo-ho observing the love between Jang Pil-soon and Jo Dong-ik, and he was in charge of the lyrics, composition, and piano.
Lee Kyoo-ho is a singer-songwriter from the Yoo Jae-ha Music Competition and was a member of the music community Hana Music, led by the legendary Korean folk musician Jo Dong-jin in the 1990s, along with Jang Pil-soon and Jo Dong-ik. He has released two solo albums and has worked on numerous songs for various musicians, including Lee Seung-hwan's "Three Wishes," Yoon Jong-shin's "Patbingsu," and Lee So-ra's "track 6."
"Melody of Love" depicts a universal love story illustrated through the words of music. The song straightforwardly expresses love through lyrics that include words such as "melody," "pianist," and "high treble," as well as phrases like "I will sing a love ballad" and "You are the bassist in my life."
Jang Pil-soon first presented this song at the "Hakjeon Again" performance, held at the Hakjeon Theater in Daehakro as it closed in 2024, describing it as "a love song sung openly." It is a song that showcases the essence of love, revealing the aspects of love intertwined in everyday life.
The arrangement is also composed of a simple piano line and minimal sound effects, blending well with the straightforward and honest lyrics. A music video capturing the moments of Jang Pil-soon and Jo Dong-ik living in harmony with the nature of Jeju Island, their residence, will be released soon.
