Actress Kim Hye-eun uploaded a post targeting Yoo Si-min's remarks, sparking controversy, and at the point when the counting for the 21st presidential election was concluded, she published an apology.
On the 3rd, Kim Hye-eun posted a handwritten apology on her personal account.
That day, Kim Hye-eun said, "Hello, I am actress Kim Hye-eun. With a hope that I do not cause any disturbance during the time of fully observing the people's choice, I leave this message now that the counting has been fully concluded. I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt discomfort or disappointment because of the post I made on May 31st."
She continued, "I am deeply reflecting on the fact that the responsibility for those emotions lies entirely with me, both to those who have watched me for a long time and to those who unexpectedly saw that post and felt disappointment and discomfort. As someone who has spoken for a long time, I learn once again the weight of having a voice through this incident."
Thus, Kim Hye-eun promised, "I will become an actress who holds onto that realization and strengthens myself. From now on, I will think more deeply about the impact of my thoughts and expressions as an actress on society and will approach my responsibilities with caution and a sense of duty as a public figure."
Finally, Kim Hye-eun added, "As a citizen who loves Korea, I wish for a happy Korea above all. A developed Korea. I support the future of Korea standing tall in the world."
Earlier, on the 31st of last month, Kim Hye-eun wrote on her personal account, "I have never felt embarrassed about my academic background from Seoul National University like yesterday or today. I want to convey my apologies on behalf of others." Kim Hye-eun graduated from the Department of Vocal Music at Seoul National University.
She indirectly criticized Yoo Si-min's remarks, saying, "Whoever has the tongue to judge and demean someone's life carelessly has the most shameful tongue."
She particularly mentioned Seol Nan-young, the spouse of presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo, saying, "As a woman, she devoted her life to supporting a man's dreams and has dedicated herself as a female labor activist for justice. I respect her even more because I feel that I could not have lived that way." She expressed her reverence, also mentioning her mother and aunt, as well as actress Kim Young-ok, saying, "The women who did their best in their positions are the driving force in my life."
Kim Hye-eun concluded, "I do not want to become an arrogant intellectual who looks down on high school graduates just because I graduated from Seoul National University," leaving behind her feelings, "Today is a painful day filled with harsh words as a woman living in this era."
The post soon faced allegations that it targeted Yoo Si-min's remarks. Yoo Si-min had previously stirred controversy when he said during a YouTube broadcast of 'Kim Eo-jun's Das Boo-ida' regarding Seol Nan-young, "That is a place that Seol Nan-young cannot reach in her life." He later clarified, "The expression was excessive, meaning I could not make pragmatic and rational judgments," but could not escape criticism.
Following this, a heated debate occurred on Kim Hye-eun's SNS, where she continued to respond directly to comments, but ultimately closed the comments section before deleting the post.
The following is the full text of Kim Hye-eun's message
