"Just hearing the sound of ‘Street Woman Fighter’ gives me PTSD," said Honey J, shedding tears over trauma... Her reunion with Ri.hey was ‘touching.’
Currently, Mnet's 'World of the Street Woman Fighter (Season 2)' is airing, and Honey J, LIP J, and Leejung, who are back on stage after Season 1, shared their honest thoughts on their performance in ‘Salon Drip 2.’
When asked why they took on the challenge again after having already made a name for themselves, Honey J noted, "I think my memories from that time have been overly glorified. I find myself saying daily, ‘Why did I agree to do this again?’" She shared her bittersweet truth with a smile. She added, "As soon as we started filming, I thought, ‘That's right, it was like this,’ and I began to reconsider why I decided to do it again."
When asked if she followed the show after Season 1, Honey J revealed, "Honestly, I had trauma. Just hearing certain sounds when missions were announced would bring on PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) to the point where I couldn't function." She opened up about the mental burden at that time. However, she reflected, "Looking back, there were many things to be thankful for, and in the end, only good memories remain," explaining her reason for taking on the challenge again.
In particular, questions arose regarding her relationship with Ri.hey, whom she met again this season. Honey J expressed, "It's like reuniting with an old lover. It's awkward when we’re together," adding, "At the beginning of practice, I intentionally made small talk to avoid any silence." She continued, "In the past, I choreographed alone, but now Ri.hey actively shares her opinions. I felt a surge of emotion realizing how much she has grown," stating, "We have both become a great source of support for each other, and now we freely praise each other."
Honey J further stated, "Before 'Street Woman Fighter', the teams were divided, and the younger ones felt awkward. It wasn't to the extent that we couldn't perform together, but that was the atmosphere. However, this time, meeting together at events has eased things a bit."
Honey J also candidly shared her thoughts about a scene where she tearfully said, "I hate this program." She explained, "It wasn't that I cried from the start. It felt like telling the best MC that it was 'boring.' I was trying hard to hold myself together, but the wounds kept piling up." Leejung, who witnessed this scene, remarked, "She is already at the top and is someone who maintains that status. Seeing her cry made it hard for me to hold back. I usually don't cry, but I ended up crying even more." Honey J stated, "I cried because I was pouring everything into this and approaching it sincerely," conveying her deep authenticity.
Through the stories of those dancing with sincerity, ‘Street Woman Fighter’ is becoming more than just a competition; it is becoming life itself.
