Actress Shim Yi-young, who delivered a strong performance in 'Kind-hearted Seonju,' revealed her husband Choi Won-young's and their two daughters' reactions.
Shim Yi-young delivered a strong performance as Pi Seon-joo, the title role, in the MBC daily drama 'Kind-hearted Seonju,' which concluded on the 2nd. Following the conclusion of the project, she recently met with Shim Yi-young at a cafe in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, to discuss the drama and her recent updates.
Shim Yi-young, who is married to fellow actor Choi Won-young and has two daughters, noted regarding her family's reactions to 'Kind-hearted Seonju,' "The kids loved it so much." She added, "They enjoy that both of us are working as actors and we receive a lot of support from them," and smiled.
Shim Yi-young continued, "The kids don’t say they want to be on air, but the younger one says she wants to be an actor and wants to act. The kids made a YouTube channel. The eldest started YouTube in the 2nd grade of elementary school. However, I told them not to show their faces. It’s dangerous. I advised them to only do what they want to do aside from that."
Many stars are sharing their children through various means such as YouTube, broadcasting, and social media. However, Shim Yi-young and Choi Won-young are different. Although they have appeared together in variety shows, they have never publicly shown their daughters' faces.
In this regard, Shim Yi-young stated, "I think it’s fine to act well as an actor if I'm free and approachable to the public, and if people feel comfortable when they see me. However, that’s my opinion, and my husband had a different perspective. Ultimately, I thought it was right to respect that opinion."
She said, "I can't insist on my opinion by forcing the other person to bend theirs just because they are different from mine. I have no intention of doing that. If one person's opinion is that way, I don’t feel like opposing it. So I told my husband, 'Let's do what you think.' That way, we decided not to reveal our children's faces, and looking back, I think that was the right choice."
Shim Yi-young revealed, "In fact, I have received proposals for parenting variety shows continuously since my children were young. I pondered each time, but in the end, even if we appeared, we did not reveal the children's faces. My husband thought that it wasn't right to disclose personal matters on variety shows as an actor, and I also thought we should not reveal our children's faces. Ultimately, I agreed, and I think it was a good choice."
