Today (3rd) at 9:45 p.m., KBS 2TV's 'Smoking Gun' will investigate the 'Boryung cyanide murder' that shook a rural village.

On April 30, 2009, an elderly couple was found dead in a quiet rural village. The couple passed away on the same day without any particular illness. The day before the couple's death, a 77-year-old woman surnamed Park (pseudonym) was also found dead in the house below. With three people passing away in succession in a small village, an investigation was launched. The autopsy revealed that all three died from 'cyanide poisoning' due to cyanide. What exactly happened in this village?

While thoroughly examining the crime scene again, the police discovered an unexpected clue. A folded newspaper was found in front of the elderly couple's house furnace. When carefully unfolded, there was a suspicious note inside; who could have left it? And why did they disappear after leaving such a note? During the ongoing investigation, the police received crucial testimony while interviewing the villagers and finally identified a key suspect.

Lee Ji-hye noted, "How could such a thing happen in the same village?" and expressed her anger, saying, "After hearing the story, the perpetrator is so shameless and brazen." An Hyun-mo was surprised, stating, "In a situation where the suspect denies it until the end, the detective's ingenuity discovered an incredible smoking gun."

Meanwhile, on today's broadcast, Jeon Byeong-hwa, a detective from the Boryung Police Station's investigation department, appeared to share the intense investigative process they went through to prove the crime during the investigation, while Kim Seon-chun, a forensic toxicologist, will explain the scientific basis for cyanide toxicity and detail the background of the verdict.
