Former national volleyball team 'queen of volleyball' Kim Yeon-koung has shared a cheerful voting verification photo.
Kim Yeon-koung left two photos on her Instagram story on the 3rd along with a message encouraging voting. In the photos, she is exercising her right to vote at a polling station. However, due to her height being taller than the voting booth, her face is fully visible, eliciting laughter from viewers.
Kim Yeon-koung has set records from her debut season, achieving six championships and continuing to do so until her retirement as the 'queen of volleyball.' Dominating domestic volleyball, she became the first female volleyball player to enter overseas leagues. She expanded her career into Japan and Turkey leagues, and as a national representative, she stirred excitement in Korea by achieving a top four finish at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
However, her retirement announcement last year left fans heartbroken. Nonetheless, she is planning to establish a foundation as the first volleyball player to not only support volleyball but also less popular sports.
Last year, reflecting on her retirement, she said, "I felt like all of my career was coming to an end. The meaning of being a national representative really meant a lot to me. I kept thinking of the past, and it made me emotional. The word 'last' seems to evoke strong feelings."
In particular, she noted, "When I first wore the Taegeuk mark, it was a dream come true, and I felt both honored and overwhelmed. It was an honor to represent our country while receiving so much love, and although I am retiring from the national team, I will continue to show great results in the future. I appreciate your hard work, Yeon-koung," which brought her to tears.
