Actor Lee Je-hoon of the movie 'Big Deal' transformed into a promotional fairy, responding to questions about his marriage plans on 'Morning Yard.'
On the morning of the 3rd, Lee Je-hoon appeared on KBS 1TV's 'Morning Yard' in a live broadcast. He met the viewers as the first guest on 'Tuesday Invitation.'
Lee Je-hoon marveled, "It's so amazing and an honor to be here on 'Morning Yard,' which I have watched since childhood." He noted, "There are hardly any opportunities for live broadcasts," adding, "So this moment feels like a dream. I hope it slows down."
He revealed, "I do wake up early normally. However, as my senior (Lee Kwang-ki) knows, there are times when we shoot late." He expressed his gratitude, saying, "I didn't expect such a warm welcome." On this day, 'Morning Yard' received enthusiastic applause and cheers. Despite having only 15 audience members, they cheered for Lee Je-hoon's rare live broadcast appearance. Lee Je-hoon, touched, remarked, "They clap every time I say something. Can I come out every day?"
Although he starred in a movie about soju, Lee Je-hoon awkwardly admitted, "I enjoy drinking, but I don’t drink well. Soju especially gives me a bad hangover, which is quite troublesome."
He explained the dynamics with his co-star Yoo Hae-jin, saying, "Seeing someone like Yoo Hae-jin makes my heart waver. I have other thoughts too. He comes to Korea as a 'bad man' trying to swallow the country’s national soju, so I hope you watch to see what changes will happen in the theater."
He continued, "This is my first time meeting senior Yoo Hae-jin. Whenever I watched movies since I was young, he appeared in those films. Upon thinking, it seems impossible to explain Korean cinema without mentioning Yoo Hae-jin. He is such an important figure and has left behind amazing works, and I felt joy and happiness while shooting."
He said, "Among the actors I've met, he is the most cheerful and makes those around him comfortable and happy. That's why I wanted to stick around. As we continued having a friendly time, I found it difficult to act in a charismatic way against my senior because I kept becoming disarmed."
Lee Je-hoon expressed admiration for Yoo Hae-jin's wordplay, saying, "During the stage greeting, when we took a picture together, people beside us joked that we looked like squid and said it was 'workplace bullying.' Then he replied, 'It's like a colonoscopy.' How does he respond like that?" He added, "I will recommend that he definitely appears on 'Morning Yard' when he films his next movie."
Regarding the line from the movie, 'Why do you live so hard?' Lee Je-hoon stated, "Since I was young, watching a lot of such movies, I nurtured a dream of becoming an actor, wondering how happy I would be when I appeared on screen. Now that I've actually done it, I'm so happy and grateful. I hope the audience and viewers who enjoy this time are as happy as I am."
After enduring the humiliation of being dropped from a leading role during his time at the Daehak-ro theater troupe, he seriously studied acting at the Korea National University of Arts at age 25. Regarding his school experience, Lee Je-hoon reflected, "I realized I was a frog in a well. Seeing my friends perform well made me think I need to do better. Therefore, being with friends who share this thirst for learning became an opportunity for me to grow."
Currently, after accumulating 20 years of experience through films like 'Architecture 101,' 'Park Yeol,' and the 'Signal' series, senior actor Lee Kwang-ki, a panelist on 'Morning Yard,' also asked Lee Je-hoon about his marriage plans. In response, Lee Je-hoon cleverly replied, "Isn’t it a crucial life plan more important than my choice of work? I also want to meet a good life partner like your daughter, Senior." In fact, Lee Kwang-ki's daughter, Lee Yeon-ji, attracted attention for announcing her marriage to soccer player Jeong Woo-young.
Meanwhile, Lee Je-hoon stated, "My biggest goal as an actor is to be remembered as a good actor even after 30 or 40 years. I haven’t had the opportunity to appear in KBS dramas. If the KBS president is watching, I really want to participate. Please contact me. If it’s a KBS drama, I’d love to appear on 'Morning Yard' again." His self-promotion added a humorous touch.
The movie 'Big Deal,' in which Lee Je-hoon plays a lead role, is a story about a financial director, Jong-rok (Yoo Hae-jin), whose life revolves around a soju company during the 1997 IMF crisis, and In-beom (Lee Je-hoon), an employee of a global investment firm pursuing only results, who confronts the fate of the nation’s soju. Released on the 30th of last month, it is currently showing in theaters nationwide.
