Actor Lee Je-hoon shared his daily life on the eve of the presidential election.
On the 2nd, Lee Je-hoon conducted an interview for the movie "Big Deal" (distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by The Lamp Co.) at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
"Big Deal" depicts the story of Jong-rok (played by Yoo Hae-jin), a financial director whose life revolves around the soju company, and In-beom (played by Lee Je-hoon), an employee of a global investment firm who solely pursues revenue, as they stake the fate of soju for the people of Korea during the 1997 IMF financial crisis.
Lee Je-hoon takes on the role of the capable employee In-beom at the global investment firm. Initially, he doesn't understand Jong-rok's dedicated attitude toward the company or the team-building gathering where they share a drink after work, but he undergoes a change as he spends time with Jong-rok.
Following the release of "Big Deal," Lee Je-hoon has been meeting with audiences. He noted, "The release was on the 30th of last month, and I felt that the movie was being released during the media and VIP previews on the 29th. It has only been four days since the release. I can feel how audiences received it by reading their reactions and reviews. I hope to receive many opinions. I find it a bit overwhelming but surprisingly enjoy the process of discussing the editing during the movie-making; while discussing 'Big Deal', we talked a lot and saw it countless times. Watching it in theaters makes me feel like the hard work has paid off. The same goes for other movies I've worked on, but I feel a special attachment to this one," he said.
Especially on the day of the interview, it was also the day before the 21st presidential election. Dressed in black, Lee Je-hoon said, "I was conscious of the color. I often use various hand gestures for greetings, but I was mindful that they could be misunderstood, so I held back. I send a lot of hearts," he laughed.
Lee Je-hoon is currently meeting with audiences through the movie "Big Deal," but is also busy filming "Signal 2" and "Taxi Driver 3" at the same time. Given that he raised concerns after undergoing surgery for colitis last year, his busy schedule is worrying. Lee Je-hoon mentioned, "I had a health check-up in January. The results deemed me very healthy, which was a relief. At that time, I had resolved to live life freely without worrying about others, but I didn’t expect 'Signal' and 'Taxi Driver' to be waiting for me. First, I plan to wrap up these two projects well and then live freely starting in December," he joked.
Lee Je-hoon shared his recent status, saying, "When I show my schedule, everyone is astonished. From my perspective, I had anticipated the situation and laid it out. No matter where I go, I am determined to give my best every day. On one hand, I feel sorry that if my schedule had been more flexible, I would have had more opportunities for promotions, stage greetings, etc., but there is a sense of regret about that. Since I’m filming dramas simultaneously, it's not easy for both sides to coordinate my schedule. I feel a bit guilty about that. Even though I can say that it’s naturally hard not to have a single day off right now, in the grand scheme of things, I consider it a grateful moment. I am going through each day with the mindset of ensuring I complete my schedule without injury or illness," he said.
He continued, "I am very grateful that both projects are series, which gives me the reassurance to portray those characters again. There is a burden to present an interesting story. I am thankful that I can provide salaries to my employees while working. I worry about the next year, thinking that my mindset and thoughts may be excessive. Right now, if I don't actively work as a player, there is a risk for the company, which is a dilemma. People around me say I should rest now, and while I am aware of that, considering the company's situation, there is a compulsion that I cannot take a break. I expect 'Signal 2' to be released in early to mid-August, and 'Taxi Driver 3' to go until the end of November," he conveyed.
