June 2, 2025, marks the ninth anniversary of Jeong Jin's death. He passed away on June 2, 2016, due to gallbladder cancer, at the age of 75.
Born in 1941, he earned a bachelor's degree in theatre and film from Dongguk University. He made his official debut in 1979 after being specially recruited as a TBC talent in the special drama 'Between the Land and Heaven' for the March 1st Movement anniversary. He became known after appearing in major dramas such as 'The First Republic', 'Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592', 'Han Myung Hoi', 'Winter Flower', 'The Fourth Republic', 'A Complete Love', 'Taejo Wang Geon', 'The King's Woman', and 'Cheonchutaehu'.
Amidst such achievements, Jeong Jin received the Popularity Award at the 21st Baeksang Arts Awards in 1985 and the Friendship Award from the Korean Actors' Association in 1998.
Jeong Jin was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer in September 2015 and underwent treatment. Even during treatment, he showed his passion for acting by preparing a one-person show 'Sunday's Mannequin', but he passed away on June 2, 2016, leaving a mark in the hearts of viewers.
