'If you're cool, you're my bro! The male singer hit song acknowledged by men' ranked first with Shin Sung-woo's 'Towards Tomorrow.'
The 266th episode of KBS Joy's '20th Century Hit Song,' which aired at 8:30 p.m. on the 30th, introduced hit songs by male singers that men like, under the theme 'If you're cool, you're my bro! The male singer hit song acknowledged by men.'
In the early part of the broadcast, upon the release of photos of Cha Seung-won, So Ji-sub, and Ryu Seung-beom with facial hair, Kim Hee-chul asked Im Jin-joo whether having a man with facial hair or a clean-shaven man was better, saying, 'Facial hair looks good.' Im Jin-joo responded, 'I prefer someone who is clean-shaven. Because (with facial hair) isn't it prickly when you kiss?' Kim Hee-chul then added, 'I have no reason to kiss a man with facial hair,' showing an embarrassed expression that added to the fun.
Ranked 10th was Kim Jung-min's 'Infinite Love' (1996), famous for being the OST of the KBS drama 'I'm Sorry, I Love You,' and at 9th was Yada's 'Funeral Song' (2000), which captivated male fans with its rough voice and splendid guitar performance. In particular, Kim Hee-chul introduced Yada, saying, 'They were popular enough to be called the original military president. During Jeon In-hyuk's military service period, a male fan brought food for all of Jeon In-hyuk and his dorm companions when visiting.'
Drunken Tiger's 'Do You Know Hip Hop' (1999) took the 8th spot. Kim Hee-chul revealed, 'At that time, if you went to see Tiger JK's performance, he had a habit of giving away T-shirts, shoes, socks, and hats to fans who came to see him,' and joked, 'I could give them away too.'
Flower, a band known as Yada's brother group, achieved 7th place with 'Endless' (2000), while N.E.X.T's 'To the Sun, To the Boy' (1997), which was selected as one of the 11 songs to cherish for a lifetime by Shin Hae-chul, secured the 6th spot. It was notably explained that 'Flower had a higher male audience ratio at concerts compared to other singers, and because their response was hotter than girl groups in the military, they became famous for being a male singer that closed the show.'
Ranking 5th was Deuce's 'Look Back at Me' (1993), which led So Ji-sub to the path of hip hop, while Buzz's 'Monologue' (2003), known for several hits including 'Coward,' 'Thorn,' and 'I Don't Know Men,' came in 4th. Kim Hee-chul explained, 'No one hasn't sung a Buzz song,' and added, 'Actor Kang Ha-neul said, 'Buzz wasn't just popular with half of the group, but the whole school was a fan.'
Yoon Do-hyun's 'Love Two' (1994), which gained popularity after an 8-year resurgence, was ranked 3rd with the explanation that, 'After YB emerged as the national rock band with the 'World Cup cheering song' in 2002, Yoon Do-hyun's solo songs became a topic again and surged back.'
Kim Min-jong's 'Biwon' (1999), which captured men's hearts with his tough voice and acting, secured 2nd place. Im Jin-joo noted, 'The reason Kim Min-jong is popular with men is that he has many songs with lyrics like, 'I let you go because I love you,' adding, 'Women don’t understand why someone who loves you leaves.' To this, Kim Hee-chul humorously replied, 'You leave because you love. Do you know why? To sing this type of song at karaoke.'
'If you're cool, you're my bro! The male singer hit song acknowledged by men' has been crowned first with Shin Sung-woo's 'Towards Tomorrow' (1991). Kim Hee-chul introduced an anecdote that Shin Sung-woo bought a house for his musician friends when he was at the height of his popularity. When Im Jin-joo asked, 'How much can you spend for a friend?' Kim Hee-chul replied, 'I can give several tens of millions of won and even help start a business.' Im Jin-joo then asked, 'Are you and I friends?' to which Kim Hee-chul firmly replied, 'No. We're just broadcast officials,' creating a cheerful atmosphere.
