At the ‘ASEA 2025’ awards ceremony, actors Byeon Wooseok and Kim Hye-yoon, along with the group ‘I-dle’, were honored with three awards.
On the afternoon of the 29th, the 2nd ‘Asia Star Entertainer Awards 2025’ (ASEA 2025) ceremony took place at the K-Arena in Yokohama, Japan. The event was hosted by Monsta X’s Hyungwon, actor Kim Hye-yoon, and The Boyz’s Younghoon.
Kim Hye-yoon, who took to the stage as a host, said, “First of all, I am really happy to be part of the Asia number one awards ceremony. It’s my first time hosting a global awards ceremony, and I am a bit nervous, but seeing the audience in front of me gives me strength. I will do my best with the two of you.”
As the awards officially began, ENHYPEN and Fantasy Boys won the ‘Hot Icon’ award, honoring artists with notable achievements. The ‘K-Pop Leader’ award was given to I-dle. On stage, Shuhua said, “Thank you so much for this award. I am so touched as I never expected this. I think I can perform well later. Thank you. Thank you, Neverland,” and Soyeon noted, “We will become a harder-working I-dle.”
The ‘Global Rising Actor’ award went to Choo Young-Woo. He stated, “It is an honor just to be in a place with such stars, and I thank you for this award. I will work hard.” The ‘Best OST’ honor was awarded to Byeon Wooseok, who sang the OST for the drama ‘Lovely Runner’. Byeon Wooseok remarked, “It was a stroke of luck to receive good works and good songs. I thank the fans who loved ‘Sudden Shower’. I appreciate those who love Eclipse,” he said.
The second part began with the ‘The Platinum’ award, given to artists with high album sales and one of the main honors. The award went to a total of six groups, including Sakurazaka46, ZEROBASEONE, &TEAM, The Rampage from Exile Tribe, The Boyz, and I-dle.
In addition, the highly regarded vocal award, ‘The Best Vocal Group’, was awarded to BTOB. On stage, Seo Eunkwang said, “First of all, I dedicate this award to our beloved Melody fans. It has been a day filled with immense gratitude. I want to thank the Cube family members I worked with previously, the staff during our activities in Japan, the award organizers, the artist fans present here, and the agency staff because that’s why BTOB exists. We will become a sincere BTOB that lives up to these expectations.”
In the male category for ‘The Best Group’, PLAVE won. Appearing via VCR, PLAVE said, “We’ve heard that we could receive this award thanks to our fans who voted hard for us.” They added, “We want to dedicate this award to our loving fans. Thank you,” as they bowed. The ‘Conceptual Artist’ award, noted for its unique visuals, was won by The Boyz for the second consecutive year.
The voting for the ‘Fan Choice’ section, determined by fan votes, also took place. In the ‘5th Generation’ category, PLAVE won; in the singer category, Lim Young-woong won; in the ‘Fan Choice Couple’ (actors) category, the award went to Lee Seyoung and Sakaguchi Kentaro; in the ‘Character’ (actor) category, Kim Hye-yoon won. Kim Hye-yoon remarked, “I was happy to be close to you as an MC, and I am grateful for the large award given to me. Thanks to the fans, I think I can comfortably sleep well today. It feels great, and I hope we can continue to meet for a long time.” For the actor category, Byeon Wooseok won in the male category, and Kim Hye-yoon was honored again in the female category.
The ‘Best New Artist’ award for actors, given to rising stars with notable performances throughout the year, was awarded to actor Jo Yuri. He said on stage, “I am grateful to receive such a precious award. I want to send my thanks to everyone who helped me get this award. I would like to express my gratitude to the director and all the production staff of ‘Squid Game’. I also thank my seniors who supported and took care of me,” and added, “To my family and friends in Busan and my beloved fans, I truly love and appreciate you. I will become a singer and actor Jo Yuri who rewards you with a better appearance in the future. I ask for your interest and love for ‘Squid Game’ season 3 as well.” The ‘Best Artist’ award, recognized for its unparalleled influence in Asia, was awarded to Kim Hye-yoon in the female actor category, while Choo Young-Woo and Byeon Wooseok received the honor in the male actor category.
The ‘Performance of the Year’ award, given to artists who showed exceptional performances throughout the year, was awarded by actor Choo Young-Woo, with ZEROBASEONE taking home the honor. ZEROBASEONE stated, “It is such an honor to receive such a big award. I couldn’t attend last year, but I was thankful to receive the Rookie Award, and I appreciate the opportunity. Whenever I receive awards and show good performances in front of our Zeros, please remember that we are creating records and careers together,” they added, “Thank you for this wonderful award. We will repay you with even more amazing performances in the future.”
The ‘Record of the Year’ award, given for the most refined album, was presented by Byeon Wooseok, and the honor went to ‘I-dle’. Soyeon, who took the stage, said, “We have attended many awards ceremonies, but it still feels unfamiliar to receive such a big award, and I am quite nervous. Thank you so much, Neverland. Although I learned late, we could never have received this award without our music. This is all created by Neverbub. We hope you love our new song as well. We may not be able to always show new and surprising sides, but we will always be the bold I-dle who shows you the same things.” Notably, as I-dle made their comeback with a new debut feel, they expressed, “Now, this is our real start, so please support us for the next 50, 100 years,” and concluded the ceremony with their performance of ‘I Hate Pain.’
