Director Min Jin-ki of the 'New Recruit' series expressed strong trust in the lead actress Lee Si-young in the new drama 'Salon de Holmes.'

On the 30th, the team behind ENA's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Salon de Holmes' (written by Kim Yeon-sin, directed by Min Jin-ki and Jeong Hyeon-nam) released an interview with Director Min Jin-ki.

'Salon de Holmes' is a comedic action drama set in the Gwangseonju APT., featuring a high-level detective, an ex-ace detective, an insurance mogul, and the queen of part-time jobs as four women coming together to defeat an apartment villain.

Director Min Jin-ki, who took charge of the direction, shared, "The setting of ordinary women organizing a detective group from the original novel was appealing. The development starting from everyday empathy, leading to the defeat of villains, was thrilling, and I was convinced it would be interesting when portrayed as a drama, as it reflects the worries and sorrows of women in this era."

Min Jin-ki, who is also the director of the most talked-about work of the first half of 2025, 'New Recruit,' noted, "While 'New Recruit' delivered humor based on empathy within the teamwork of a special group in the military, 'Salon de Holmes' focuses on each of the four female characters, creating a more immersive experience through their emotions. Unlike 'New Recruit,' which was dominated by male characters, 'Salon de Holmes' will showcase the power of female characters." He particularly emphasized, "Through this work, I hope the message 'Moms are cooler and stronger than anyone' reaches the audience effectively."

Director Min Jin-ki expressed satisfaction with the casting that perfectly realized the four capable female characters. He praised Lee Si-young, who plays the role of the brilliant detective Gong Mi-ri, stating that she was the only actress capable of embodying the multi-dimensional character who, behind her smart and lively exterior, harbors painful memories. He added, "Seeing her portray the character with a healthy image and bring realistic comedy to short-form content, I was confident she would enrich the character of Gong Mi-ri by 200%."

Regarding Jung Young-joo, who plays the role of Chu Gyeong-ja, he remarked, "She is an actress with irreplaceable energy" and expressed confidence that she would showcase the action scenes beautifully with her strength built from musicals and stage performances. He highlighted his favorite scenes as Jung Young-joo's combat scenes, stating, "The passion of Jung Young-joo, who volunteered for special training at an action school, combined with the authentic action design of the martial arts director, created explosive synergy. She will properly portray the 'female Ma Dong-seok' character."

Director Min Jin-ki revealed that Kim Da-som was cast through auditions, noting that he was captivated by her distinct youthfulness, which heightened curiosity about her character Park So-hee. He also mentioned that he cast Nam Ki-ae, who possesses a character and acting depth capable of leading the other team members, in the role of Jeon Ji-hyun, a former insurance mogul and CEO of Gwangseon Super, thus completing the puzzle of the four protagonists. He shared, "The solid acting skills, character interpretation, and passionate dedication to acting of the four actresses contributed to creating memorable scenes," and added, "Please look forward to their woman-centric chemistry."

Moreover, while revealing an episode in which the atmosphere maker Jeong Sang-hoon caused laughter with his ad-libs, Director Min Jin-ki raised expectations. He commented on the late actress Park Ji-ah, who appeared as the head of the women's association, sharing, "I thought it would be great to have an actress with rich acting experience to play the role, so I offered Park Ji-ah the role, and she delivered a captivating performance. I hope she watches 'Salon de Holmes' happily from heaven. I will remember her for a long time," expressing gratitude and drawing attention.

The lead character Lee Si-young has recently garnered attention due to her divorce. Lee Si-young married a non-celebrity businessman in 2017 and gave birth to a son but recently announced her divorce after eight years of marriage. Consequently, attention is focused on 'Salon de Holmes,' which marks her first project following the announcement of her divorce. The show will premiere on Monday, June 16, at 10 p.m.
