Musical actor Jeon Ho-jun is currently embroiled in a war of truth over allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and has announced plans to withdraw from upcoming performances and suspend his activities.
On the 24th, A, who claims to be Jeon Ho-jun's ex-girlfriend, posted a revelation on her social media account alleging that she was assaulted by Jeon Ho-jun. A, who has been in a relationship with Jeon Ho-jun for about a year since last year, stated, "Since 6 p.m. yesterday (23rd), I lost contact and only heard that I returned home around 3 a.m., deciding to break up after prolonged absence, I went to find Jeon Ho-jun," adding that she was attacked, including being choked and thrown down the stairs.
She said, "I was being choked and grabbed by the hair, should I have just stood still? Of course, I struggled to survive." She added, "In the midst of that struggle, something scratched Jeon Ho-jun's forehead, and he claims that I hit him with my phone." She asserted that Jeon Ho-jun continued to choke her and hit her head on the floor multiple times and that he had called the police himself, saying he would not let her go. Jeon Ho-jun claimed to have defended himself while trying to prevent an unlawful entry, while A expressed her frustration, stating, "I was defending myself to survive, but suddenly it became mutual combat."
A claimed to have received a diagnosis of three weeks of injury and verified her wounds. Moreover, she alleged that Jeon Ho-jun extorted about 10 million won worth of luxury items under the guise of marriage while they were dating and even transmitted a sexually transmitted disease to her, shocking many. She also mentioned that he was subsidizing her Pilates expenses at 1 million won per month.
As the content spread, Jeon Ho-jun posted a lengthy message on his SNS on the 25th, stating, "The assault situation alleged by A occurred during the process of stopping her from unlawfully entering my home in the early hours. In the beginning, I tried to calm the situation, but physical conflict became inevitable, leading to a scuffle, during which I also sustained injuries with bleeding to my face and head." He released photos of himself bleeding and recordings of the incident.
However, due to the controversy, the production team of the play "The Tonight Show," in which he was supposed to appear, announced, "We are currently verifying the facts and have decided to temporarily suspend the casting of the actor involved until the truth of the matter is clearly established." In response, Jeon Ho-jun posted an additional message on the 27th, stating, "I never assaulted A. A has revealed photos of her alleged injuries, claiming they are from me, but I'm not a man who assaults women. I have always lived without even imagining harming anyone else's body."
He said, "There was a struggle between A and me early on the 24th. As the photos I posted indicate, the situation was urgent enough for me to bleed, so to avoid worsening the situation, I had to restrain A with my strength. The traces of assault in A's photos are not from me. A was assaulted on the 23rd by her ex-boyfriend, and she informed me of that fact via Kakao. I plan to faithfully provide any evidence related to this situation to the investigative authorities, if necessary."
He also commented, "I never imagined that our affair would attract public attention. It's honestly not easy for me to engage in performances with 100% focus in this situation," stating that he had informed the relevant theater companies of his intention to withdraw from the performances he was preparing for and sought understanding. "For the time being, I will take the time to gather my thoughts and organize my surroundings," he said, expressing his intention to halt activities.
Following this, the production team of "The Tonight Show" also released an announcement on the 28th, stating, "The White Theater Company has taken this matter very seriously and has been carefully discussing internal matters, including the verification of the facts. We expect that the exact facts will be clarified through the investigation process by the authorities, and the actor has expressed his intention to withdraw during this process, which the theater company respects and has decided to accept."
In the meantime, A released an additional post on the 28th to refute the allegations further. She detailed the circumstances from the day before the assault occurred, stating that she never attempted to unlawfully enter Jeon Ho-jun's home and that she was grabbed by her hair while talking outside the entrance. She said, "When I was grabbed by the hair and thrown down the stairs, I also thought I needed to survive somehow, so I grabbed his hair on my forehead and front," adding, "(Jeon Ho-jun) said that I hit him on the head with my phone, but if what he says is true, how could I remain calm in such a painful situation and ask, 'Did you hit me? Okay'? If you listen to the recording, you will see that there is no mention of blood during this situation, and it is only much later that I said I was bleeding."
A responded to the recordings disclosed by Jeon Ho-jun, stating, "The part right after the cut in the recording is likely my pleading voice. I was cut off just before my voice, begging, 'Please, I can't breathe, save me,' was about to be recorded. If truly innocent, shouldn't he have disclosed all portions, including my pleas?" She added, "If the call recording at the time of the 112 call is made public, my voice pleading to be saved while choked will be recorded. The police officer witnessed me being grabbed by the hair. If there were a body cam, I plan to request the material during the investigation."
She also stated, "I have finished legal consultations and retained a lawyer, and the reason I have remained silent until now is that I wanted to present accurate evidence and only speak based on fact rather than emotional responses, which is why I have been quiet," indicating her intention for legal action.
