Psychologist Lee Ho-sun shed tears while recalling the late Kang Ji-yong.
The MBC entertainment program 'Radio Star,' aired on the 28th, featured a special on 'No Back Talk Sisters,' with Lee Gyeong-sil, Choi Yeo-jin, Sayuri, and psychologist Lee Ho-sun appearing as guests, sharing candid stories. On that day, Professor Lee Ho-sun revealed moments that were difficult to handle as a counselor, mentioning Kang Ji-yong, who recently passed away, adding to the poignancy.
Professor Lee Ho-sun confessed, "There have been times when I felt that being a psychologist wasn’t right for me," and added, "The hardest moment was when a client passed away." He continued, "Many of those who seek counseling are under psychological pressure, such as depression or post-traumatic stress. There are cases where they make extreme choices because they cannot overcome the difficult moments in life."
He confessed, "I have had that experience three times," saying, "During the first experience, I couldn’t even eat properly for over two months. I felt a sense of guilt, wondering if I could have prevented that person from making such a choice if I had said the right things." He continued, "I endured while taking psychiatric medication. It was that painful."
Lee Ho-sun noted, "Counselors can also be affected by their own problems when providing counseling," adding, "I also receive counseling and education to alleviate my own issues. Each time, the most comforting words I hear are, 'It’s not your fault,'" as he ultimately broke down in tears.
After his tearful confession, Lee Ho-sun tried to shift the mood again. He said, "There are also many funny moments. During counseling, some people have done handstands in front of me or breakdanced. The counseling scene is literally a wonderland. However, all those moments are ultimately a process of understanding and sharing someone’s pain, so it’s always a meaningful time for me."
Earlier, the late Kang Ji-yong passed away on the 22nd of last month, at the age of 35. Professor Lee Ho-sun posted on his social media, "I mourn for someone who lived passionately and fiercely, and left us too soon. I pray for the remaining family. I hope for hope at the end of tears. RIP," along with a photo of white chrysanthemums.
Lee Ho-sun conducted psychological counseling for the late Kang Ji-yong and his wife in the 'Divorce Reflection Camp,' aired in February. Notably, Kang Ji-yong expressed on the show, "My wish is to die in my sleep. I feel such a strong desire to die that I have prepared my car. The stress is so immense that while I was trying to live hard, it has crushed that will," revealing his intense desire for divorce. His wife later revealed, "Kang Ji-yong threatened to die, which was shocking," surprising everyone. At that time, Professor Lee offered realistic advice, saying, "Forgetting makes the heart feel at ease" to the couple, who were experiencing severe conflict over financial issues, and emphasized the need for mutual trust and support, saying, "You have honored your parents with money," and "Just as a coach trusts a player, the husband and wife must trust and support each other." However, two months later, the tragic news emerged.
