Lawyer and broadcaster Seo Dong-joo, who is set to remarry in June, revealed her honeymoon home with her husband.
In the EBS show 'Architecture Exploration - House,' aired on the 27th, Seo Dong-joo was seen presenting her honeymoon home and her fiancé.
On that broadcast, Seo Dong-joo revealed her honeymoon home located in the heart of Seoul, in an old neighborhood where traces of time are still evident. The honeymoon home was a small remodeled French dwelling, known as the ‘red gate house,’ attracting particular attention among the densely packed similar dwellings.
The home that Seo Dong-joo and her fiancé decorated together was not an apartment in a glamorous neighborhood, but a place in an old town of northern Seoul that retains its charm. From the start, the couple, who preferred to live in a single-family dwelling rather than an APT., acquired an old house built nearly 60 years ago through auction and renovated it.
Seo Dong-joo noted that they did not buy the house based on its internal condition. The roof, which lacked insulation, was on the verge of collapse, and there were many days of despair due to construction being completely different from the blueprints, but thanks to their perseverance despite numerous ups and downs, their honeymoon home became a landmark representing the neighborhood.
Seo Dong-joo said, “Everyone thinks I must be quite wealthy, but that’s not the case. I was pondering how to make the most of what I have, and that’s how I got involved in the auction. The place had been uninhabited for a long time and had a strong feeling of being a ruin, but to us, it was a house with a shining aura.”
Seo Dong-joo's fiancé laughed and said, “I liked this house so much that I spent a bit more than the price my fiancée suggested. It turned out to be a single successful bid. I’ve learned that you should always listen to what women say.”
Seo Dong-joo, who is about to embark on a new start through remarriage in June, said, “There were conflicts of opinion during the house construction, and there were sensitive moments. Nevertheless, seeing us trying to resolve it through conversation helped build our trust,” and added, “We will be living in this place that marks our starting point while sharing our love, and I hope we can grow up as mature individuals as much as possible.”
Meanwhile, Seo Dong-joo will marry her fiancé, who is six years younger, in June. Her fiancé is known to be working in the entertainment industry and is a former manager of broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu.
